I am Xhosa, if you ever find yourself in South Africa, Cape Town. You'll hear it everywhere. Most of the citizens here are bilingual at least and are fluent in both English and the other 2 native languages in the regions. My lady is from Northern Ireland and is currently learning how to speak Xhosa from me and my family. It's incredibly difficult to teach oddly enough because I requires practice with your tongue. But at the core the language and it's rules are much more simple than English. If you ever travel to South Africa, make sure you ask your tour guide about the languages. There's a whole deep and dense amalgamation of cultures hidden here!
@johnsmith192617 күн бұрын
@@tulip8586 A lot of these click sounds are just not part of most families of languages. So far I only listened to people speaking it. This is actually the first video I came across, where someone is actually doing an approach to teach, by not just speaking the words. Instead he is first defining and separating the 'odd' sounds from the words and then incorporating them into the language. Sounds way less frightening to me to learn now.

He was never able to use the clicks in the middle of the words. I think learning at a young age is pretty important for this kind of stuff. I don't have any formal education on language, but I've always been interested in words and origins, of accents and how language travels and evolves. Idk how to say it, but it seems we use the same sound, yet it is much more subdued.
@Sp8e Жыл бұрын
First accent. A brand has a lizard 🦎. Do you know why? I also don't know. One of our very respected elder told us the language was given to us by the people who came to earth from the sky(heavens) , they had reptile (lizards)faces very ugly yet very kind hearted.. Zulu means heaven or sky. Hence the Zulu people they long believed unkulunkulu(the greatest of them greats) came from the sky. I read in the Zulu book where they mentioned 30+ words that sounded very similar to Greek and Latin, guess what? Zulus never mixed or even met people speaking Latin and Greek . Never even in the past. How did it happen that Zulus have similar words to Latin and Greek?

When I was younger, there was a clip on the news of Saddam writing something (it looked like he was making notes on a pad, rather than signing a document) and of course, he was writing right to left, in 'Arabic'... My mum said ''Isn't he clever, writing like that,'' I said ''Why? He's been writing like that all his life, that's how they write...'' I was just listening to a podcast, where it said that some Ukrainian minister had written one word ''calm down'', and the American host who had been reading the article, then had to add ''Well that's two words...'' but the thought occurred to me: What if it is only one word in Ukrainian, like 'tranquilo' means 'calm down'...? So, I went to Deepl translator, typed 'calm down', and selected Ukrainian, and, although I can't read Cyrillic, yes, that's right, it was one word (of about 8-10 letters) Confirmed my initial intuition, and my theory that some people really can't think outside the box of their own experience, and forget that if an article is translated from one language to another, things may not match up 100% correctly, and that some things do 'get lost in translation' 🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️ Learn languages, it'll open your mind to new possibilities 👍👍👍👍 ''Words build bridges into unexplored regions'' - A.H.
