Glue the foam to the wall and when it is time to take it off you will end up with either torn and destroyed foam and foam pieces on the wall or a bunch of paint off the wall and stuck to the foam. In both cases eventually there will be a need to repaint the room

Haha it can absolutely get really messy and I briefly glossed over that, but it's relatively cheap to repair any "damage" they cause especially if you plan accordingly and choose surfaces that won't be as effected by the glue! But you're right they can definitely leave a mess!

90kg/m3 rockwool is the answer. You want to threat the low end too, and those foams will only absorb down to 400 Hz at best. Make DIY panels and place them in the corners, and the first reflection points. Always measure RT60 values, with a cheap measurement mic and Room EQ Wizard, don't let your ears fool you. DIY rockwool panels are cheaper and more effective.

Never tried those but that sounds interesting! I definitely know that the foam panels aren't perfect by any means, but for the price and simplicity it makes a world of a difference compared to nothing at all! Thanks for the tip fam!
