It is better to have more than one set of ears on something important for sure but for the most part it is just another step to be learned like all the other steps in music production. So to know if you are on the right track I would say master some tracks as best you can and then send same tracks out to a professional and see how they compare. Good job on the video a day streak I probably would have said f'it a while ago, lot easier to make comments for sure🤓

It's funny that you brought up the basketball analogy. In the modern NBA, players are getting praised for having flashy handles and not being able to win consistently. The purpose is to win. Likewise, the purpose of mixing is to make it sound good.
@inswainaudio8 күн бұрын
Haha yeah I guess it wasn't the best analogy but mixing has sort of taken the same path; where the flashiness (quick tips) are being praised more than winning the game (making a good mix)

I would add another element to the first mix, to help the intro and lead the tune somewhere vs. cutting it, and the other like you said you can't have too many competing parts, especially in low-end

Closet recordings I haven't done but I have seen closets bigger than rooms I have stayed in so things being relative I guess it's all in the acoustics

U didn’t talk about how close the headphones can be to the timpanum and the risks it poses. ? Make sense please

I've never read any literature stating that headphone use at low volumes causes hearing loss, so I wasn't going to just assume that were true. Please cite a source showing that low volume headphone use causes hearing loss. Thanks for your comment!

I generally before adding plugins will make a ruff ballanced mix. That in it´s self is worth more than any amount of plugs that you could add and plus, It´ll already sound better (depending on what your aiming for). And if you decide to add plugins, THINK 3D, do your editing, place movement in your songs with effects (effects as front to back relationships) AND ADD AUTOMATION ! But as you would know, this will take some time if you want your song to become special. BUT.... to do this all, and as you also know: PEOPLE DON´T WANNA HEAR THIS SHIT!!! THEY WANT QUICK RESULTS!!! Sorry to say, that while making garbage tunes are easy, sculpting on the other hand is an art form. So you wanna make some garabe tunes for your little stupid girlfriends or do you wanna get laid ?! It´s no shame in taking longer than most to mix a song but as long as you know why it´s taking so long.......know and learn your audio tools and use your brain. It won´t expode....not just yet anyway.

I think this channel is a bit underrated in that it actually does deliver on its promise to post videos giving advice that hasn't already been given. I was wondering why is it not more popular - I am mostly indifferent/neutral to presentation styles unless they're annoying, unwatchable gen-Z style. I think there's something up with your (author's) presentation style, but I'm not sure what is it. The only things I'm sure of are: the Gen-Z style is not going to improve your channel, and that you're doing a good job on sharing your knowledge. maybe the script/talk can be a bit repetitive at the beginning? Also sometimes when the channel is filled with under 10 minutes videos, all sporting very similar thumbnails and all having "clickbaity" or "listicle" titles, people can start to avoid it like plague due to being used to such channels not going in any deeper than the surface level knowledge. Could then be also the algorhithm reacting to actions of those people. Good luck man figuring that out if it's even a miniscule goal of yours. I think you may need to switch up your style a bit, coz the content itself is at least okay in some places and very good in others. And i see you've been on platform for a while

I love reading the plugin manuals. When you get good plugins, the better they are, the more extensive the manual is, and the more secret sauces you'll know. Reading manuals is sound designer dream
