Louisiana evergreen shallots. Those are my latest onions in the garden. I’m into perennial dividing onions for green onions (walking) and now the shallots give bulbs and more green onions. In summer I’m a bit worn out with the heat to do much more in the garden.

HEY PD!!! I will have to look those onions up. Yes, I hear you. My garden is overgrown I need to get to work in it.

I did from sets this last year and they didn't get big. I learned starting seeds in the fall like with garlic is the way to get big ones. Definitely going to start seeds soon.

You are right. Once I tried to start seeds in the fall I was like I'm doing this all the time.

@@GrowSomethingTasty now when is the right time to put them outside? Or should I maybe just plant them around the same time as my garlic outside?
@missdevemissdeve82664 ай бұрын
What I do is mix the cinnamon in my soil before i plant my seedling or anything. I been doing this for years. ❤❤❤

Perlite works good too. Just started doing that this year and have way better germination than when I did the soil as the top layer. #gamechanger4sure

HEY @ DanlowMusic!!! Cool, that's good to know, thanks. Yes, it is a game-changer. I might have to put mine under a heat mat because some of my older seeds are taking a minute.
@DanlowMusic4 ай бұрын
@@GrowSomethingTasty I haven't seen vermiculite in stores for a couple years but perlite is plentiful. It has changed the way I start seeds for sure. So light it moves out of the way with ease

Will these grow over the winter? Or when do you plant them out
@GrowSomethingTasty4 ай бұрын
HEY @gmays!!!! Yes, they will overwinter if you are in a zone like mine. I have mild winters. The bulbs won't form until it gets warm again.
