I know this is waaaay after the posting of the video, but I'd be curious how you would do the camo cloaks for the new Rangers/Shroud Runners to fit the theme of your bases!

I really like this! If you wanted to take it one or 2 steps further, what would you do?
@MediocreHobbies2 жыл бұрын
Cheers pal. You could always go in with say Corvis black and relayer the armour to make it a little smoother. And then maybe a small transfer on the helmet. Guardians are simple models. I would save all the hard work for aspect warriors and characters.
@jmc70342 жыл бұрын
That has to be the easiest black armour that I’ve seen and it looks good too

Really nice video. Quite fancy having a go. How would you translate this to a wave serpent? Contrast on big flat panels seems quite tricky
@MediocreHobbies2 жыл бұрын
You are not wrong. It would involve a different process. You would have to go back in and layer the panels again. Check out my eldar bike video from last week. That has what I mean in it.

Love it! I converted guardians and used contrast on their new legs, which looks great, but the top halves are botched with rubbish highlights. Reckon I could hand paint white and contrast those or would need to paint strip?
@MediocreHobbies2 жыл бұрын
You mite be able to get away with it. Probably faster to just give them another spray and then contrast again if the paint is thin enough.
@SarahLaineSmith10 ай бұрын
Does it need to be an oil wash or could a very thin acrylic wash work? I don’t have oil paints yet.
@MediocreHobbies10 ай бұрын
I don’t use oil paints at all the wash is just callled Nuln oil. It’s from gw.

The start says you did black primer with grey zenithal, but it looks pretty solid grey. Is that just the camera or did you go with a lot of coverage with the grey over black?
@MediocreHobbies2 жыл бұрын
Yes the grey was quite heavy. I know your thinking why did o bother with the black. But the contacts won’t stick to the plastics at all. So if you leave any grey plastic underneath it will be hard to work with.
@RSB7032 жыл бұрын
@@MediocreHobbies Oh I thought Grey Seer was a primer itself?. But i guess the darker black undertones will help with the black contrast no matter what. Thanks much!

Great Tutorial, I decided to go this route with my Eldari. Would you recommend the same technique for Wraith models as well? Or are they to big for contrast?
@MediocreHobbies Жыл бұрын
They should work just fine. It’s will get harde as they get bigger. You just have to be careful with pooling.

Great video. Just starting with Eldar and I wanted to paint them as Mixture between Ulthwe and Iybraesil. Could I do a heavy drybrush with stegadon scale green or sotek green over the black templar to achieve a somewhat dark turquoise look? Or would you recommend a different approach? :)
@MediocreHobbies2 жыл бұрын
Honestly I would recommend a different approach. Maybe check the video i did for the new void scared eldar. That would be a lot closer.
@clood08142 жыл бұрын
@@MediocreHobbies will do that. Thanks :)

Late to comment here, but if The Guardian is primed with black then white instead of grey should you dry brush with a darker grey other than Ulthuan grey to darken things a bit?
@MediocreHobbies2 жыл бұрын
No it should still be fine as long as you stay consistent across the army.

So, I haven't been active with GW games in about 20 years, but I'm pretty sure I remember that their helmets used to be yellow.
@MediocreHobbies2 жыл бұрын
No always black bodies with bone helmets for these guys some other craft worlds have yellow helmets.
@alexh24912 жыл бұрын
Way back in the Second Edition era of the game, Ulthwe did indeed have black armor with yellow helmets! In third it changed to bone, and that has been the primary visage since.
@JamesEarlCash2 жыл бұрын
I see a lot of people painting the helmets either black+bone visors or bone + bone visors or bone+black visors. I guess if you have three 10'man squads of Guardians it might be one of the possibilites to differentiate those squads from each other.
