This also works with the dragon headstone. I have found this out while farming and bored. I wonder if this extends to other items as well, il have to do my own testing. Update: no, although I have yet to acquire the torso stone to test that. It doesnt appear that any other items can be canceled in this meathod.

Obobobo still uses this tech. It's not that amazing for duels due to reaction like you say but in invasions yes it's mega viable.

This tech doesn't get me but lag does I dodge WoG when they hump as that's most consistent, but mild latency can screw me over and make things worse :(

Best use for GCC cancel is 45 Dex combustion bait. Cancel spell close range into black flame or gc. Often a roll catch or just unexpected

I really think a similar mechanic in DS 3 would have helped immensely. Or, let casters charge their spells, similar to melee r2s. Thanks for the tips! Digging this series a lot.

We did have a similar mechanic in DkS3. Too bad it got patched in a few weeks because people kept spamming 'cancer' on social media :/

Charged spells would propably make magic pretty op :/ So would most other additional mechanics you could add to casting overall

Homing Asato-Mass the charge wouldn’t have to add too much damage just give mages mix-up timing so that their spells aren’t so easy to roll

The mix ups would be the main problem, actually. There are certain spells that would become more balanced thanks to this, like soul greatsword for example. But all the spells that already are viable would become unecessarily strong thanks to the improved roll catch potential. Edit: Thinking about it, it could possibly work quite well for pyromancy...
