It's not used very often in high-level tournament play, even generic reversals are used sparingly. I think the idea of reversal or parry characters is that you don't make that part of your defence the most imperative thing as players will often account for them when throwing high or mid pokes, waiting to chicken or even stopping a string midway to bait it. Parrys and Reversals only make up for less than 3% of your total defence anyway, so to base your entire defence on that feature is counterintuitive. EDIT: I made that percentage up lol But the point is to paint a picture of how small it is compared to everything else you would do on defence.

Lil Wayne Jr lol no, hwoarang's backlash holds that title.
@rangeer96 жыл бұрын
hwoarangs backlash isnt that good in higher levels, imo. its extremely slow, it is high and it comes from a stance. the stance makes it easier to predict it, but the high aspect is fucking up the move more than you think. if you just try to learn how to deal with that move, its not becoming op anymore. things like jabs into duck and launch punish, generally high crushes and so on. its a really good move, no doubt, but its also not that hard to counter it if you know what you are doing
@haroondanyal54666 жыл бұрын
Ranger Neun you are right, few days ago i ducked maybe 7 8 backlashes against one hwoarang player and punished it cuz it was very predictable due his stance change.

You mentioned that a lot of strings can be ducked or sidestepped, but I'd argue that a lot of those strings have a smaller window to duck than you would with Jin parry. I think if your opponent telegraphs their moves enough, or if you've caught onto some of their habits, the parry becomes an essential tool to gain advantage over your opponent, especially if you're a defensive player. Also, it doesn't put the same metal stain on your opponent as say Asuka bitch ass reversal does. A lot of people forget about his parry and they feel free to be as aggressive as they want because they dismiss it. I know that I personally alter my style a little bit fighting Asuka because her reversal is kinda bullshit. But that's just my take.

You say you can sidestep or duck strings,but for example lots of strings has safe high or punishable mid endings.In those cases parry can punish both options if they finish the string with one of those 2 option.And if they dont finish the strings you probably wont(or cant) be punished for parry attempt.
@neptunusequester6 жыл бұрын
That's a good point. However you can also fuzzy guard, which makes parry an unnecessary risk.
@lordfifth45206 жыл бұрын
You can get heavier punish with parry,and i think its easier to do compared to fuzzy guard.Also if they dont finish the string and you parried,i dont think they can punish you because parry's recovery is fast.You will be at frame disadvantage though,but i can say same thing with fuzzy guard also :D Only problem with parry is timing it so that it will work no matter if they throw high or mid i think.But I might be wrong about it though idk.

I am not a Jin main, by far not, but I love parries in general. There was this one time, when in a very small, very local tournament, I played as Paul against a long-time Jin main, and an observer said that I was parrying way more often than the Jin, who is known for his parry. I also parried more often and reliably with Bryan than the Jin did. So yeah, I'd say, even though there might not be any actual advantage most of the time to the alternatives, I'd still try to parry the shit out of everything, and likely wouldn't do too bad, neither. (Fun fact: during the end of TTT2's lifespan, I tried so hard to become a top tier Wang because of his Neutralizer, but the rest of the kit was not meant for me...)

As a Jin main, Jin's parry only becomes busted when dealing with pokes. I only truly discovered this when fighting Noctis. The stuff you can parry on noctis is insane and he kind of telegraphs his pokes but usually the range on them and the push back make them safe. Not so with Jin, he eats noctis alive. In my experience he becomes broken when you can parry pokes and he's stupid when you can parry moves that are only safe due to push back.

Two of the best moves in the game belong to Yoshimitsu. B+3/B+4 and Flash You could make an argument that both of these are better than Jin's parry.
@gibbybibby50312 жыл бұрын
B3 and b4 get clipped by homing moves and flash is only as good as the opponent you are going up against. If a player always takes his plus frames against yoshi, he deserves getting flashed. Besides from that flash is -15 on block and around -40 on whiff. Recently someone made a list of the 100 most broken moves in tekken history and none of yoshis moves made it.
@hushwonder20702 жыл бұрын
@@gibbybibby5031 B3 and B4 damage you, giving yourself rage at low health, as well as getting you out of sticky situations where you'd otherwise need to block. Plus, just because there is a weakness doesn't mean the move is bad. In most situations, spinning is broken. Flash isn't "only as good as your opponent". I dont get where that opinion comes from. Flash is only as good as the player using it. It's insanely punishable, but if you're using it correctly, these problems aren't an issue. Watch Eyemusician. Best Yoshimitsu in the world. He's in Korea, has played against many of the best, and beaten many of them as well. He's an absolute menace, and if he can't convince you Flash is broken, you're mad.

@@gibbybibby5031 the fact that he's at the highest level tells you he's the best. The fact that he can perform in tournament's tells you he's the best. I don't play online anymore, but was fujin last time I did. Peaked emperor. @@hushwonder2070 You. Didn’t tell me who you main. All of the players I mentioned play at the highest level. And if it comes to results, kaneandtrench has made more top 8 in tournaments besides not beeing active at times. Also he performs better against players like knee and jdcr. Eyemusician tends to freeze up against them, cause he can’t bs around. Against people who know the matchup yoshi doesn’t have a lot of real mixups. Like his wall oki with sword sweep and cd1, which is pretty disgusting and the most broken thing he has imo. But guess wrong against a player of that caliber and you are dead. Kaneandtrench can play fundamental at the highest level of play with a character who isn’t fundamentally strong, but people but seem to appreciate that.
