What I hate about these videos is that they always compare authentic bags with VERY poor quality replicas. I'm not sure if high quality replicas are actually available in America, but in Asia where I live, very high quality replicas are available for sale and they're very hard to tell apart from the genuine ones. +eriquerique Unfortunately, there are super fakes in America too. We put these videos out to give users a basic knowledge about what to look for. The points we're making are more easily seen when the difference between the fake and the real are more pronounced. The real combatant against ending up with a fake is to know exactly who you are buying from. Experience matters so make sure you buy from someone who has been in the industry for a long time and who will back their products 100%. Buying online is a luxury we have all come to enjoy, but buying online comes with seller anonymity and a lack of recourse that can get a buyer in trouble. I would suggest only buying online from someone who has a brick and mortar location where you can be sure to connect with someone face to face if necessary. Or at the least, over the phone. If you have a specific question, we can do our best to answer it here. Just respond to this thread. Again, thanks for the feedback, I share in your frustration in the prevalence of super fakes in the marketplace.

usually the hardware is the giveaway, but unless you have a genuine to compare it to, that's very difficult as even the hardware on the high end replicas have improved over the years. With LV I have something to compare a replica to, but I have never bought a genuine Chanel, I couldn't and still can't justify that much money for a leather bag that costs less than $200 to make. Hi Tammy, I was going to buy a pre-owned Chanel Jumbo Classic double flap bag from 2012 in lamb skin. The button hole above the toggle lock for the inside flap has a seam in the metal after the Chanel logo on top. I have seen this in some other bags, but most Chanel bags do not have this. Is this a fake then, or something specific to the 2012 year? Thanks!

My best advice is to make sure you are dealing with a reputable business if you are purchasing on the secondary market. The consignment industry is wonderful, but I can't stress to users enough that you need to know who you are dealing with. Make sure the seller has a money back guarantee and, I always thinks it's best to buy from someone who has a brick and mortar location so you can call or go see them in person.

i would like to ask one additional question. i did purchase a chanel timeless clutch from a consigner out of state. they do have a good reputation. it is from 2011 with series 14 on hologram. everything looks perfect, except that on the hologram tag i cannot find the repeating Chanel CC logo to the right of tag, but it does have the black strip to the left. can this still be authentic? do all holograms have to have this or just the classic larger bags? i did try to get it authenticated online, but they could not say either way. The truth is that if you would like to own a luxury item, the only way you should do so is if you buy the real deal. Selling counterfeits is illegal and has multiple social and financial implications for society. If you are not into high end luxury, that is your prerogative. But if you are, make sure you know what to look for and who you are buying from.

The older bags do not have a hologram or serial number. This was something Chanel introduced later. So your bag may still be real.

I am just seeing this now... I'm sorry for the delayed response. So here's the skinny... a black lambskin double flap will have the burgundy interior as that is how the original iconic classic was made. A double flap made in black caviar leather will have a black interior. The bag in this video is actually chocolate brown... and the bags that are any color other than black, typically have the same color interior as the bag itself. In this case, it's brown on brown. Please let me know if you have any other questions.

There are times the hologram is separated or falls off of the bag but this is very rare. Also, the bag may be vintage and made before Chanel added the hologram. One of the most important things about buying Luxury Items is to know the dealer or vendor from whom you are buying. A reputable business will have years or decades of experience in authenticating items.

These high quality fake bags are made of the materials that are used for authentic bags, some even say that they use exactly the same suppliers as the authentic manufacturers do. I hear you. And I know these are not great fakes. We use these to show in as much detail as possible what the areas are to look at. With that said, the super fakes can be remarkably good. That is why it is so important to know who you are buying from. A reputable business should know how to tell the difference and have a guarantee for authenticity. Super fakes also erode so much more than just the brand's hard earned reputation. They are illegal to sell and therefore circumvent taxes etc. In general it is just better to buy real... and in our opinion, it is great to also buy on consignment.
