So horse manure on number 1 : Excessive hand gestures are cultural. I guess anyone who believes this video will think Italians, Latinos and the hearing impaired are lying to them
@adelhunt3499
@adelhunt3499 4 жыл бұрын
Some cultures use a lot of hand gestures when speaking. Additionally, people on the Autism spectrum have difficulty with too little/too much eye contact and volume control. A few of these points do not take travelers or the nuerodivers into account, so please be careful when jumping to conclusions. Not to mention, truth is relevant. Which is also why it's hard to spoke a compulsive liar, as they often will believe the lie themselves.
@mofo6724
@mofo6724 4 жыл бұрын
Everything you say is absolutely true. But it's all relative. If one is dealing w an Italian, say, they would rate hand gestures against the average Italian. And please... if you're a snowflake reading this, don't respond.
@adelhunt3499

@@mofo6724 Well, much of me is H2O but none frozen. Ha. One point of your idea about adjusting for whom you're talking to is that often people don't know adjustments are needed. People who are well traveled often pick up habits from other cultures without being from there. As well, many neurodiversities are not something that one can outright tell. ADD, Social Anxiety, and Aspergers being some common ones to name just a few. So yeah, definitely adjusting when you know is good but also considering that you might not know is important too.

Lying is an animal thing. Even pigs have been found to lie. That said, lying is also on a spectrum. My small daughter lies sometimes to get things she wants, but usually after lying she is sorry for it. One of my last significant other was saying so many lies that one day she told me 5 different versions of the same story. When i eventually asked her which one of the stories was FALSE, her reply was: 'I do not know anymore what is true and what is false.' Lying depends also on the circustances. If i were asked at gun point to tell where my rich ancestors kept their money, not knowing it i would certainly invent something on the spot! So, how have i learned to deal with lies? I simply DO NOT CARE anymore. I stay a bit more careful at WHAT i say and WHO i say it too. This is the only thing i can control. I cannot stop the good and the bad things that come out of people upper sewage. 😉😆😂

If you ever lie to me, we're finished. Even "small" lies reveal potential major character flaws. "He that is unfaithful in what is least is unfaithful also in what is much." ...the PRINCIPLE is the same regardless of the "size" of the lie! Once found out, your credibility is destroyed and trust is gone. Telling the truth brings honor, trust, dignity, self-respect, close friendship. At times truth may need tactfulness but only truth sets you free.

Yeah but what if the person lying is a psychopath? They don't have those nervous responses and high anxiety to deal with and therefore don't wave their hands as much, and since psychopaths always look you dead in the eye, you wouldn't know the difference!

#7 isn’t necessarily true, because using “to be honest” isn’t always linked to telling a lie. I can’t lie, and if I try to tell even one that’s used as an example, it is far from subtle lol I use the words “to be honest” when I’m describing something that I personally like and want someone to try whatever is at the time. I also use those words when I’m trying to explain how I feel or how a certain action of someone makes me feel.💛🕊

I posted in a number of threads, challenging folk to tell me what scientific tests had been run in Theory X. Most posts were evasive. Two answers told me that Field X is the most tested of all theories; others told me that no theories are tested. I could neither see nor hear anyone posting the answers. None of them said anything else Theory X. How did I know that both answers were untrue?

I am deaf in one side so voice tone changes. This is the number reason I fear being called a liar. I just have to explain. Do not think I should be a liar don't routinely lie. I usually say a situation as it is. Looking stressed not necessarily. I'm also not a person that smiles. I was probably lied to recently and noted the person was making no eye contact and had very sharp tone. They were also late to the interaction. I agree that this person would probably lie again. Not going to risk that again.

This is off topic...for now...but that's because it's merely an introduction for the sake of context. I will ask about lying after someone responds. Now, once at work, when a coworker was giving us instructions for the night and asked if there were any questions, my old manager, totally unprompted, suddenly said, "Does that make sense, John?" I think she asked me in particular because of all the times I struggled with tasks and demonstrated my slow, limited understanding. That was the night I delayed getting something for a coworker and the manager had to help me find it. I think she thinks I'm...well, whatever is a nice, more respectful word for "stupid," since she surely wouldn't use or think that mean word, especially consciously. But either way, I just can't stop the feeling and impression that she thinks I'm Mr. "Gee, I don't get it." Would that explain her "random" question to _me_ that night, no one else? That she thinks I'm slow?

@bobbiewillis484
@bobbiewillis484 4 жыл бұрын
This is so one sided. You can also suffer all these signs when you are telling the truth but have not been believed because trauma can trigger anxiety and having to prove to be believed has also the same effects. So. Where do you draw the line? Anxiety can raise body tempretures and when someone has nit been believed can become a trigger panicked and has the reaction to this same body reactions. Changing stories can be closed down also by anxiety because trauma closes the mind down into a stress responce to protection of their over reacting body function due to heart rates and Long term trauma and triggers can also end up you being read the wrong way and cause more anxiety. The breathing usually stops once the story begins but many take this also as a liar reaction. Its not always the case. Even Police get this wrong.

@@junior.von.claire I have suffered not being believed and I had most of these reactions and yet I am so honest. It is so true. Anxiety and trauma cause these signs and symptoms so it's not 100% accurate. in fact all the services. It is now too late for apologies because the damage is done leaving me now with even more added trauma. Not good. There is nothing worse than not being believed because of incorrect body signals that can be an innocent reaction to someone own innocent defense. Breathing problems can be anxiety thats triggered off by a traumatic event. Insulin gets released into the blood stream that can cause breathing problems . I actually cant eat carbs ir sugar. I have a breathing difficulty reaction. So when I am stressed my body reacts the same way. So it gets read incorrectly. Shouting is also from frustration. Not from hiding a lie. Confusion is the brain shutting down trauma. Memory loss and confusion. All link to adrenaline over reactive reaction. Can you see where I'm going here? It is very simular.heart rate increases and the body rises in tempreture. Stress can override the body functions and can be miss read leading to others incorrect judgements. Even when I coughed they thought that was a reaction to a lie unfolding but I ate carbs before and was starting to have a reaction. I didnt take a histamine until I got back home. See how easy people can get it wrong..

Emily Jones Actually, I understand far more than most. I’ve been treating and managing social anxiety disorder for 27 years. I agree with everything you have shared and found this video absurd. I imagine that few people can relate to your reality.

Also another so called friend who used that Gaslighting mental game on me leaving me doubt my intuition and safety. Leaving me wide open to the neighbour who lives down stairs now harassment he also seems to have rights to do so. I will put money on it that he will be moved instead just to P...me iff even more. I found the majority of this list/video really informative for those unfamiliar to liars ( i was especially impressed with the "distant pronoun" portion. Very deep). But the last 2 are insulting to any person who made it to middle school & are obviously "filler" to make the clip longer. If there were ever a book "Interrogating for Dummies" the core lesson is to ask the same question in as many different ways possible. And #10 seriously just warns you if someone tells you one thing but moments later stumbles over what they JUST TOLD YOU! Theyyyyy....might be a liar

The Bible is clear that lying is a sin and is displeasing to God. The first sin in this world involved a lie told to Eve. After planting seeds of doubt in Eve’s mind with a question, he directly contradicts God’s Word by telling her, “You will not certainly die” (Genesis 3:4). With that lie, Satan led Eve to her death; Adam followed, and so have we all. lying is ultimately the work of the devil. Jesus taught, "You are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father's desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies" (John 8:44). But we are called to be truth-tellers. Being truthful is precious to God; it demonstrates the fear of Lord. Furthermore, to tell the truth is not a suggestion, it is a command. The Christian faith is built on the promises of a God whose promises are always fulfilled. He is a God of truth, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth. Jesus called Himself the way, the truth and the life ( John 14:6), and He expects those who follow Him to be people of truth. The truth is to be expressed in love (Ephesians 4:15), offering hope to those seeking redemption from the lies of the world. Proverbs 12:22 "Lying lips are an abomination to the Lord, But those who deal truthfully are His delight." Be a delight to God today. What a precious proverb! If God delights in you, your future has no bounds. How can you easily obtain God’s favor? By honesty and truth in your dealings! Simply speak the truth and be a man of your word. We belong to the Lord, and may we honor Him 100% with every gift He has given us.
