My very first lipstick from mac is Creme Cup. It's seriously been so long, I couldn't say anymore if I had bought it from eBay but I'm thinking I did. My next lipstick was a Satin, so I didn't quite catch that Creme Cup might be fake, as the satin finish is obviously not as creamy. My Creme Cup lipstick actually has an AMAZING smell to it, and is super creamy on lips, but almost too creamy... I now have a few other creme sheens and none of them are as creamy or as scented. After having this one being so deliciously scented, I was actually pretty disappointed with the real MAC smell, ha! But comparing it to my other MAC lipsticks, the fake is actually very well done. I was a little suspicious mostly based on the smell difference and later on the texture difference between it and my other Creme sheens, but the tip on the label in this video finally confirmed my suspicions. That is literally the main giveaway. Makes sense though, because everyone always says how pink its supposed to be, and I never thought of it that way. Oh well. Live and learn :) Luckily I got a really good fake.

I also found for the fakes lipsticks i got (knew they were fake), they were a lot lighter in weight than authentic MAC lipsticks and also, the packaging was a bit more thicker and not as thin as a real one. For anyone who didn't have authentic MAC, they do a pretty good job tricking people.

I actually purchased some MAC blush & eyeshadow from an internet site. The price was awesome. The product, whether it is/is not authentic is really great. The colors are highly pigmented and last until I take my makeup off. I work full time and still hesitate to buy MAC due to cost.

I think I might have had bought a fake mac, but the only difference I'm noticing on mine is the label, the font seems to be a little lighter than my original mac that seems to be more of a bold font. My "fake" lipstick does have the vanilla scent, so that's were I'm confused since i think that would be to much work for the fake sellers? I bought mine knowing it might be fake, but the seller promised it was "real". (i got mine at the Santee alleys in LA.)

Have you done one of these videos for MAC 'skincare' ie. foundations, powders and concealers (because I know I've seen them). It seems like a lot of the 'errors' are similar across the board, so maybe it's not necessary. You're just a good host/producer so I enjoy your videos.

I got an original MAC lipstick on their website and at the bottom the formula is verrryyy spaced out from the name of the lipstick, just pointing it out it could happen! But thank you for the video, it's great info.

If you don't buy your mac from a mac counter or pro store or site most likely it would be fake.. on the foundation bottles the fake ones writing is centered the real ones the writing is left aligned

If you want MAC products its always safer to buy it directly from a MAC counter or online at the MAC website. SO many cheaters and frauds out there to trust. Ebay has SOOOOOOOOOOOO many fakers. Go to the source and try not to look for the bargins...if there is a bargin its often because its not the real thing! Great vid Z!

I got a fake hello kitty lipstick recently. I knew it was fake, so that wasn't an issue... but I was surprised how BAD of a fake it was. The packaging was atrocious. It reminded me of the supersized fake makeup that little girls play with. (all plastic) The overall package was way oversized and cheap feeling, the lid snapped on strangely and the first time I opened it, the whole bullet came out!! Talk about a surprise.

I am so glad you're doing this video, I believe the MAC products I purchased at a MAC store in the Ontario Mills mall in ca. were fake. My Ruby Woo and Kinda Sexy lipsticks are horrible; flaky, thin, and blotchy, but my Rebel was perfect. I also purchased MACs liquid foundation and two pressed powders to go over it. The colors are dull and bleak, each of looks like volcano ash on my face even though they're supposedly my color. I will never buy MAC again because of this experience, spent so much money.

I agree! I won't take the risk buying online. If' the product's price is too good to be true, it IS too good to be true/real. Many go to eBay though to get LE/hard to get products and I think it's a shame that people are being ripped off. Zabrena, good to know that eBay will refund the money if you get a fake.

I got my first ever MAC lipstick today in the mail from eBay . It smells lovely like vanilla, feels very nice and wears pretty well . It's Mac Chili supposedly . But the color pulls cooler on me than I expected. It's not as orange red as I expected and has a slight pink /purple tone . I've swatched MAChili in store only once ( I live too far from any MAC retailers) . I could've swore it was more orangey in store . The color I got is gorgeous and it wears like a nice lipstick should . Just not what I'd hoped . It came with no box . It hadn't been tried on . I'm having a tough time judging by the labels . Do you have any MAC Chili labels ?

I've been had! I ordered a MAC lipstick on Ebay and it arrived this morning. I immediately could tell the difference in the "feel" of the barrel. It just felt wrong. I compared it to my others and I was right! First thing I did, is take a sniff. Smelled like coconut...NOT right. Watched this video, and OMGeezee! Everything you showed here was true for this product! What do I do next? I sent the ebay seller a message, but I'm furious! It wasn't a huge difference in the real prices, but it was a color that has been discontinued. HELP!

Melissa Warren OOPS, I just saw this comment is a year old. Oh well, here's my answer for anyone who can use the info: There should be a link to contact the seller. Give them a chance to refund your money and ask politely and nicely. If you're unsure how to proceed, CONTACT EBAY CUSTOMER SERVICE ASAP so this can be resolved properly especially since there's a time frame limit to take care of this issue. Very informative video. It is better to buy MAC products directly from the source ( ie MAC counter or MAC online), but MAC is not available everywhere. And in some places, like my country, there are a few MAC stores in the major cities, but we don't have the online facility. So we never get the 'online only' collections. And other collections are US/ Asia specific. So there is definitely a need to buy off eBay. And videos like these help inform us more about fake MAC products. Thanks for sharing

Oh yes! They definitely use the stock photos to pawn fakes off on unsuspecting consumers. That's why I feel like you really wouldn't know until you got them in person, which is frustrating. I didn't send the product back, I threw them out. And I didn't feel badly about it either - one less counterfeit to trick others taken out of circulation! LOL! ;) XOXO!

After seeing this I checked my pigment and it's a fake, I google the name of it the color which is romp, which I learned its a shadow and brown not red, like the pigment I own. I should of realized its fake when I swatched it, it was sheer and not good at all.

Mac calls theier lipgloss lipglass. They make that distinction because lipglass is thicker and shinier than gloss.

virgilio carpio You are always taking a chance that the ingredients in fake cosmetics aren't toxic. If you're lucky, you just end up with crappy packaging and pigment or finish difference. Cosmetically speaking, I don't personally care about package color and print, but I care very much about the color, consistency, scent/flavor, etc. and I definitely hope I never end up with a toxic product. It definitely can happen so just keep that in mind; it's like playing Russian roulette and you could end up in a doctor's office or receive burns or scarring after healing, and if you're already sensitive or prone to eczema, acne, or allergic dermatitis, it's best to avoid fakes if possible. I suggest doing a patch test first with fake products.

I feel the same way. I few years ago I got a few fakes from a Facebook page called We ❤ MAC that claimed to sell authentic MAC products. I like you got some limited editions that I missed out on. The packaging was so lightweight. Not to mention the lipstick smelled like a crayon and was featherweight. The piece fell out from the tube and it felt hollow. I have plenty of real MAC so I was like WTF! They showed a picture of the real online and sent the fake. Smdh!!
