* More information of spray lubing * - How this works: This is not pouring oil. After the solvent evaporation(1~3 days), the inside of a switch will be coated by a thin film of grease. This is an alternative effective lubing way for pre-built 'soldered' switches. It's just an option. - Don't do this for rubber switches such as Topre, Noppoo and silent switches. (Some say that Cherry's rubber dampers are okay, but Gateron's rubber dampers will get damaged clearly.) - WD40 is not for this. Please refer to this product link. www.super-lube.com/multi-purpose-lubricant-with-syncolon-ptfe - Always remember 4:15 - If you do this for click, tactile switches, the tactility will be reduced a lot. - For optical switches, this will ruin the optical sensors on the PCB. If you really want to do, pull the switches out first and do individually not to get the PCB affected. - No more warranty after doing this. Before you spray lube, watch this video by Hipyo first! kzbin.info/www/bejne/pGfan2ugls6krsk How to fix a ruined keyboard using BW-100 by Hipyo kzbin.info/www/bejne/kImlkHl5ft6IbM0

Thank you so much. I just order my Super Lube 31110 Aerosols online. I'm just waiting for it to arrive. When drying it out I just had an idea to flip the board upside down(switches facing the ground) so the excess oil will just drip down, not getting stuck inside the switches, hence making the drying process faster.

Just did this to my Keychron K4 w/ Gateron Browns and it worked wondrously! It's my first and only keyboard so I was a little hesitant, but I'm very happy with the results. I dried it for about 18 hours, sitting on a window sill by an open window with a fan blowing on it (rotating the board every few hours to ensure even dryness). A clear plastic straw worked well to keep the Super Lube contained in the switch while spraying. It was a fun tinkering process, and your video was really detailed which was a huge help :)

So the reasons why you shouldn't spray lube are: 1. It will void your warranty (the same as normal lubing so don't know why that's an issue) 2. It doesn't work perfectly every time (just like everything else in the universe but okay) 3. When you use the wrong spray (i.e. WD-40) it won't work properly or when you spray heavily it won't work (last time I checked if you throw your keyboard into a tub of Krytox it also won't work and if you use wrong materials then yeah something will obviously go wrong) Basically, spraying lube isn't as bad as people make it out be. Just like everything else in life, just be careful and take the right precautions.

You can get into it for fairly cheap (compared to going with the luxury boards). I recently bought a Drevo Calibur V2 just so I could tear it down and mod it. I completely tore it down to parts, lubed the stabs and switches (also with Super Lube silicone but not the spray kind). Everything is done but reassembly, my cheapo soldering iron was good enough to desolder but apparently not good enough for actual soldering. So I had to order a new one and I'm waiting on that ☹️

From my experience, anyone who says that spray lubing broke their keyboard just didn't let it dry adequately or left it on while lubing. You could literally submerge your keyboard in water (provided it's turned off) and it would be functional if it is allowed to fully dry. The same is true for lube.
@ricedbroccoli
@ricedbroccoli 2 жыл бұрын
People who say it broke their keyboard put way too much and it fucks with the keys ability to register keys. Its really easy to do expecially with a spray bottle like this. The best thing you can do is get liquid lubricant and put it in a syringe so you can only put a few drops per switch

You can actually use a special type of WD40 for spray lubing if u can’t get access to SuperLuber, you can always use WD40: Specialist: Dry PTFE Lubricant. It’s basically the same thing. The reason people tell you not to use normal WD40 (which you shouldn’t) is because it is a water based lubricant and can gum up the switches, but the PTFE version is the correct one to use since it’s the same as SuperLube, it’s also recommended that when living switches, you use lube with PTFE in it which this version of WD40 has. You’re welcome. (Tried and worked well for my switches, been using them for nearly a month now)

@@frunsy7244 well, I have a hotswap keyboard, so it was really easy for me. I just took the switches out and used the WD40 dry PTFE, and lubed them. I let them dry for like 30 minutes to an hour before putting them back in. I’ve been using them for around a month now and they are reaaaly good. The spray lube kinda adds a coat onto your spring after a couple of days of use, and that’s when you can really feel that it’s lubed. Aslong as u do it correctly it will be fine using wd40. Just don’t lube switches while your switches are still in your board, that’s never a good idea. Hope this helps!

Hi im impressed of your videos and you gave me the idea to spray lube my RK61 gateron red switches. I live in germany and we dont have the Super lube spray can available here. So instead i bought me the WD40 silicone spray. its available on amazon. Im a industrial mechanic and i made good experiance with WD40 brand. The one best advantige is, you can control the amount of spray speed with a gentle press on the cap. I didnt used a straw or something to prevent spilling over the Key edges. The silicone oil is for me the best lube possible, because it is not conductable and we know silicone is the number one for making scratchy things smoth as possible. I also used a thick paste of white silicone grease to dampening my stabelizers. Im very satisied with the result. I have no key issues while im typing, because i just lubed the oposite side from the conduction pins. I hope my experiance can help some other people where dont can buy the Super Lube spray ;)

another great vid wildcat!! learned about spray lube which is new, thanks for feeding my keyboard hunger. I have two questions this time: 1. have you tried korean in typings.gg? i think it would look cool maybe? 2. I have boards (Keychron & Alt) that I want to mod, what's the most important part for better sound? Of the three mods in this video, spraying the switch, lubing the stabs, or the foam insert? Hope you answer... luv u

Thank you! 1. I tried but I prefer 'stroke per min' speed over wpm. So I keep using typing works. The wpm result on typing works is still low but while I am typing, the stroke speed is more satisfying for me. haha 2. Lubing switch is the most important. However, without lubing stabilizers, the keys on stabilizers would be really bad anyway. This will ruin whole sounds. Foam is just optional.

Thanks for making this video. I spray lubed my keychron k8. It made a mess, so I should've followed your steps. But the sound and feel is sooooo much better 😊😊

Based on your quality content videos (which are amazing, thanks! ;) ) I bought a RK61 from banggood and it is fantastic. It has some weird noise but overall for this low price it is a really good product. And because it has that typing noises.. I'm wondering to add rubber O-Rings to the keys. What do you think about O-Rings? Is it a goodalternative if I don't want to spray lube on all over my keyboard?
@3ildcat
@3ildcat 4 жыл бұрын
O-rings are up to your preference, but in my taste, I don't need them. The awful noise is comping from the inside of the switches, so without modding the spring, I think there is no.

@@brocer-5793 bro you just got to send it, like legit. You don’t fuxk it up and if you do, not the end of the world. The worse case scenario is that you over lube but if that happens just wait a couple of months and try again. (LITTLE IS KEY, if it’s too little you can add more but if it’s too much... that’s just annoying)
