Okay I went ahead & just did my own thing w/o looking into it first, thinking I knew what I was doing, or that I would learn along the way.. & that's exactly what's happening- I am learning LOL.. sorry in advance for the Epic comment..(I naturally tend to Explain things in detail- I can't help it.💖🖤) I just painted a what seems to be an old ceramic or porcelain Vase something that is made out of possibly like pottery material? I definitely don't think it's the clear type of glass, if that helps.. it was already painted from when I bought it it has a smooth flat base surface & then it has *raised half inch polka dots*. (it's was an off-white w/ black slightly raised polka dots).. I didn't try to remove the original paint or anything. I just painted over it.. I used what I had available as far as spray paint, as opposed to looking for specific spray paint-I feel Goofy for that bc I didn't know ahead of time- but anyways- lol.. I used Rust-Oleum Satin protective enamel in Black, & the first coat came out really good, then when I did the second coat to get in any lighter spots it must have been a little bit heavier on the back Right side of the vase,-take note: the back of the vase is completely flat without raised dots. It definitely has some thicker drips going down the edges of the flat back side of the vase,- do I sand it now? If so - I have several questions: (how much do I sand it? -Do I just sand on the thicker side of the paint, over just the thicker parts? How deep do I sand?- What exact type of sandpaper do I need?-if after I get off the residue, if it still doesn't look right then what are my options?) what exactly do I do please..lol bc it's dry now, Also I noticed that when I tried to wipe it while wet,it seemed to make it worse. So when you said you wiped it with a dry paper towel, I'm like won't that make it imperfection when it dries? It did a bit for me.. If you truly know how to help me fix this Please help 🙏 I'd appreciate it very much! This item is a sentimental gift for a family member to put her 24 karat dipped roses I bought her for Christmas inside.. I'd like for it to turn out very good.. 😊😁 oh yeah please note: one last thing, I bought folk art brand; enamel glass paint 4129 gold acrylic paint, & folk art multi surface 2908 Real Brown art metallic paint.. for the polka dots I may not even use the brown one I might just keep them gold..

Your absolutely right About creating your own things feeling satisfying.. & yes I love interior decorating and DIY..projects of all types! I made an Ombre pre lit X mas tree this year on my own lol it started off solid white ..I made it in colors: champagne, bronze brown to black as a Gift came out amazing took weeks to do! Lol I taped every Light twice too .. 😩 that was the worst along with the having to take them all off. After. It's Stunning tho..

These came out super cute! I learned that in order to prevent those drip marks which can happen super easy on glass your supposed to do super thin coats at a slow pace to allow it to dry a bit i between each coat. Also using a microfiber cloth after washing the glass piece is a good way to keep it clean before painting. Loving the aesthetic!
@nicoletrys2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the tips, Sydney 😁 that would definitely help with the drip marks 👍 love the microfiber tip too. Thanks for sharing and watching 🥰

Loved this Nicole!!! This looks so good and affordable! I could just go over to Dollar Tree and get something pretty affordable and make it high end! Love it will definitely be trying :)
@nicoletrys4 жыл бұрын
I'm so happy you liked it, Katie! The spray cans be kind of pricey (10-20$ depending on the kind) but you can use them for multiple vases so it works out 👍 yes the dollar store had a really good selection of cases. Good luck😍👍 I hope you get to make some nice pieces and thanks so much for watching♥️

What top coat do you use to protect the spray paint from scratching or chipping off the glass?
@nicoletrys Жыл бұрын
Hi thanks for asking! I didn’t happen to use one and haven’t had any problems with chipping or scratching!
@armani027ify2 жыл бұрын
Maybe the black one could have been turned upside down and painted first, turn it on it’s bottom and spray the rest.Perhaps that would prevent the drips
@nicoletrys2 жыл бұрын

Do they have to be clear vases? I was thinking of getting glass bottles and spray painting them for center pieces for wedding... Could that work? Thank you!
@nicoletrys Жыл бұрын
Thanks for asking! I haven’t tried painting over non clear vases but judging from the opacity of the spray paint, it should work just fine. You might just need a couple more coats. I love the idea of making your own center pieces😍 good luck!

You said that the paint you had wasn't for glass, but look great. How are they doing today?
@nicoletrys3 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Yes it didn't say in the can that it was for glass use but I had no problems with it. The vases still look the same as they did the day we painted them 👍😄

I haven't tested this but I believe so. The spray paint is made for camo gear so I would assume yes!
