How To Spray Your Car Matte Black - Complete Process

Start to finish process on spraying this Mitsubishi Lancer Evo matte black! This is a DIY project and is a cost effective way to change the colour of your vehicle, adding protection to the OEM paint and being able to peel and change the colour in the future! Matte black never gets old and it always makes any vehicle look 10x better!
STEPS:
1. REMOVE any parts on the vehicle that will make it easier for you to spray the vehicle (1:08)
2. CLEAN the vehicle twice. Once with soap and water and again with rubbing alcohol (at least 50%) and water. final wipe down just before you spray. (2:55)
3. TAPE up whole vehicle (3:24)
4. SPRAY process will begin starting with light coats and building up to heavier coats to gain coverage. (7:23)
5. REASSEMBLE parts on the vehicle and remove masking tape from vehicle (12:50)
6. PROTECT liquid wrap using dip shield or dip coat. Adding extra durability, a nice sheen and makes it easier to clean and wash (CHECK CHANNEL ON DIP SHIELD VIDEO)

Two questions: If I were to do this to a car, would a clear matte finishing coat help at all or would that be unnecessary with the 8-10 coats? Also, would you be able to start doing coats on one part of the car and then move onto another part of the car at a much later point?

You can add clear coat with ur 9th or 10th coat if you like. I dont recommend doing parts of the car i like to walk the car and spray the full car at once

The clear coat is coming off the roof and other places. The car is originally from FL I live MA. I know I have to sand it first but would I have to do a primer or can I just jump into the matte black?

Sand and prime it then wait 48 hours before spraying plasti dip but test a small area to make sure you get no reactions (make sure to clean the roof really good)

You didn't give the paint anything to adhere to, the paint will start flaking off sooner or later. You need to use fine sandpaper or at the least some fine grade scotch bright scowling pads to scuff up the surface so the new paint can stick.
