Hi, Simon. I first want to say that I am impressed by how well prepared you are for your videos and, by how well and thoroughly you explain everything. I had to learn about paper towel lint, baby wipe lint, and the buildup of oils and debris on the back of the stamps through trial and error. One thing I didn't hear you cover is "treating" your stamps before you use them; rubbing the stamping surface with a lint-free rag, rubbing the surface against the palm of your hand or fingers, etc. to remove the thin layer of protectant. I always do this with new stamps so the ink will adhere well over the entire surface. Is this not necessary with your stamps? Thanks for this video packed with important stamping info and tips. You're doing a great job.

How fun to go back to the basics! Great job teaching it so clearly. Your inks are the best inks I’ve ever used, I feel like the most talented artist with them. Lol Will you be creating a nice, deep black? Thanks, Simon, you’re the best! Tell your mom hi & I hope we see her in another video soon. Be good to her. 😊

One tip I got taught for inking up a stamp was if the stamp is bigger than the ink pad, you turn the stamp upside down and tap ink pad over it. If stamp is smaller than the ink pad, you tap the stamp in to the ink pad.

It is always great to be reminded about the different ways we can use the inks in stamping, I am going to start using the waterecolour technique again with some of my floral stamps. I never can say why we stop using any particular technique.

Great tutorial for someone who might be really new to stamping. Really like how you explained about storage and how to lift those off, that can be intimidating with your first set and you have no idea what to do with them. Quick ?? are there plans to have reinkers for your stamp pads? I can't wait til my birthday so I can order your stamp pads!!! There are some great colours!

Thanks for the great info! Fun, fun! I have found when doing Big stamps that if you use something soft (such as a mouse pad) underneath, the middles of the stamps will stamp better. (It's been a lot of trial & error for me, & that works!!)

Good video. I'd love it if you could also do something like this but use wood-backed stamps. You must know that we all have a drawer somewhere in our homes full of them. I only buy acrylic stamps now but there are still some really unique ones that I can't bear to pitch. Tips from Simon on these antique crafting items would be most cool.

I make my own polymer stamps at home but if you don't, then buy stamps that can be multi purpose and store them well - if you can't find it, you can't use it! For the actual stamping, my tip is to match the right ink to the paper/card/acetate you are using. What stamps great on watercolour paper may not work so well on that acetate overlay!

Hi Simon, I am new to crafting and am trying to get started but, you are using inks that come off with water. But the ones I seemed to have bought are ones that stain your fingers and I cannot get it off. Have tried all kinds of ways but none that work. What would be your advice for this and also what inks with what paper ie. using watercolour paper also?? I am struggling to find any videos or answers to these questions.

My problem I’ve been having is that it stamps clean but one side of the stamp is nice and dark and the other side is faint. I put even pressure all over when applying and it is really frustrating. I have tried everything and has got me rethinking using my stamps at all. Could you give me so advice it would be so appreciated or could you do a video regarding this. Thank you so much from Canada 🇨🇦. Love your videos

Hey Simon. I was wondering if you might go over the differences in all of your products as opposed to all the other similar products already on the market. I personally am on a low income budget. I do not want to duplicate inks, etc. that have the same characteristics or do the same job. For instance, how is your dye ink compared to the other major brands from Ranger, etc? I do admire your hard work...just pondering how on earth you find time for teenage friends, family, school work, sports, and whatever else teenagers do?

Hi Simon, great tips! Thank you. Is it necessary to "prepare" stamps before stamping to get best results? If yes, how?
@iamcalledbex5 жыл бұрын
I think, and I'm sure I'll be corrected on this, proper clear stamps (aka the expensive photopolymor ones) don't require preparation for the ink to adhere. The cheap clear stamps are made with maybe arcrylic and often need to be prepared before use otherwise ink beans on them. You can prepare by lightly rubbing an eraser over them, or a nail file SOFTLY or even use a staz-on ink which will stain then but will give the next ink something to stick to.
@mariskaritfeld5 жыл бұрын
rmatsonr thank you! I did read about the cheap acrylic ones and how to prep them before use. I will try the eraser/nail file method. Staz-on: hesistant to use that cause afraid it will mix with the other colors when stamping. Thank you!

I think I saw a video by Jennifer McGuire where she recommended stamping with Versamark to condition a new stamp. You might try searching for "how to condition a new clear stamp" to see what turns up.

Hi Simon, do you have any suggestions for making my clear stamps stay on the laminate sheets? I have trouble with some of my stamps losing the tackiness that lets it stay on the laminate sheet. They are completely clean and I’ve even cleaned the off with alcohol swab. Please help!
@simon.hurley3 жыл бұрын
Clean them with a bit of water and let dry... they will be sticky again then. It’s the dust on the back of the stamps that keep them from sticking. Cleaning will help them. :)

margaret cunningham my inks sink in the cardstock instantly, so they don’t smear or smudge! :)
@PapercraftsbyCindyellen5 жыл бұрын
I too am a ciotach! Dye ink works well because it dries fast - with pigment inks, I work my card upside down. That way I'm moving across the card, away from the wet ink. Or, i just do a lot of small images i can cut out and then glue down. That way, if i mess up, I can pick one that isn't mesed up.
