YAS! Jonghyun wrote the song for Taemin and he was going to do the rap but he wanted Kai to be a part of his first solo release. What a great friendship they have 😄 What's worse it's that now that they are both together in SuperM they could easily perform Pretty Boy live AND THEY DON'T. All the fans were asking for it, still pissed about it. 😂

Rather than deciding to market Taemin as a feminine idol I think they took advantage of Taemin’s already naturally effeminate looks and his innate cuteness. Adding to that since he was only 14 when he debuted and was the youngest idol ever at the time in all of Korea it solidified the image of him being a cute/ sweet/ innocent child (his long hair didn’t help either). It’s also why many times you see the hosts of different variety shows baby him even now. This song is more a late rebellious phase demanding we see him as a grown man instead of the child we saw him as. Which is frankly quite hard for many Shawols even now. He is is our baby cheese! But as he got older he realized he is prefect the way he is and having a mix of both classic masculinity and effeminate traits is not a bad thing. Which is where we got Move from 😍.

I love you you described this! Just one correction however. Taemin actually wasn't the youngest idol to debut actually! ☺ While he was the youngest of his time, the actual youngest was BoA who debuted at 13, so he was pretty close.

I agree with you on WHERE IS MV FOR THIS SONG!!! At least we have performances and can appreciate those two live, but the lack of MV is such a miss on SM’s part >< To be completely honest I’m not a biggest fan of album version of this song, but damn is it an awesome concert song! I haven’t seen Kai&Taemin’s version live, but I’ve seen Taemin performing it three times during his concerts and the audience went crazy, screaming and chanting P R E DOUBLE T Y PRETTY BOY! I had so much fun and I could see Taemin was enjoying himself as well, even rapping fragments of Jongin’s parts. Also, the lyrics are awesome, Jonghyun did amazing job of putting Taemin’s feeling into words ♥️

Hahaha❣😜😝 You totally cracked me up‼ When you did Jonghyun's song ealier you said it made you more softer..calmer...mellow melodically. Jonghyun is definitely more of a romantic emotional artist. Now with Taemin you'll get more of this upbeat, fun groovy yet kind of silly feel...which suits Taemin's personality. Although known as an intravert... when Taemin is with his other members (of Shinee), thinking because he is the Makanae/youngest...he's so funny and silly...like a kid, a ball of energy at times...which makes him so entertaining‼🤗 Although I do see a more "mature" Taemin when he is with the members of Super M... maybe because he's a Hyung / older to them? When I observed him with Super M, he kinda reminds me of Jonghyun in that unit🤗...just my thoughts. Thank you for the video loved it! And I can't wait for the live!

"Who produced this?!" Time for me to pull out the physical album...! "Korean Lyrics: Kim Jonghyun, Composer: Caesar & Loui / Ylva Dimberg, Arranger: Caesar & Loui, Original Writer: Caesar & Loui / Ylva Dimberg" Although glancing at it, you can find this info on the "Ace (Taemin EP)" Wikipedia page too. :) About the Korean lives, it's a network thing: Mnet (MCountdown), KBS (Music Bank), SBS (Inkigayo, The Show), MBC (Music Core), etc. So if you see notifications from those sources, those are all Korean networks. And they can be strict on uploads of their music show broadcasts. I've seen some KZbinrs pause the video every 15-20 seconds to try to trick the algorithm. I don't know if that works or not. It's just what I've seen people try. It's possible some networks are less restrictive than others (?) but they're probably all the same. Hope that helps a little bit! :) Enjoy the "Pretty Boy" live!

the lyrics are by jonghyun and the song was composed by Caesar & Loui, Yiva Dimberg. The arrangement is by Caesar & Loui. Whenever you want to check info on a song, I recommend you to go to melon(.)com it's a little bit cumbersome cos it's all in Korean (it's a streaming site, like Spotify), but you can write the name of the song in the search bar, you press it and then where it says "작사/작곡" you'll see the people you need, and you can even press on their names and see what else they've done. 작사 means lyrics, 작곡 composer and 편곡 arrangement. also 곡 is track.

Oh man, remember how I said when you got to "Pretty Boy" you needed to watch the special comeback stage that Taemin and Kai did for the song? kzbin.info/www/bejne/eGrJfJuNnshkr8k. This is one of the few performances, that even though it's a comeback stage, you really need to react to. You can't even begin to appreciate the song until you see the full performance, because it's not just about the song, but the point of this track is the whole performance. And because Jonghyun wrote the song with Taemin in mind, it was designed to highlight what Taemin (and Kai) do best, which is perform. The music was produced by Daniel Caesar, Ludwig Lindell, and Ylva Dimberg and it was arranged by Caesar & Loui (You just have to look up the album on Wikipedia and you will see who wrote, composed and arranged all the tracks.) :D As you now know, "Pretty Boy" was wrote by Jonghyun. He wrote it specifically for Taemin after having a conversation with him about the fact that Taemin was tired of everyone seeing him as just a "pretty boy." The song is all about how "yes I am a pretty boy but I am so much more than that," etc. Early in his career when Taemin was growing up in SHINee people often emphysised the fact that he had very feminine features. People thought it was novel and cute to make him play a girl. So at this point in his career as a 20 year old he was trying to make a statement that I am a man now And just because I may speak with a soft voice and the way I move isn't extremely masculine doesn't mean I am not a man. Just because he wasn't afraid to show emotion doesn't mean he is less of a man. He was questioning why people don't see him or treat him like a masculine man. Jonghyun saw and felt the struggle that Taemin was going through and he wanted to give him a way to address the issue and to show the world the Taemin that he knew and loved. (The members of SHINee practically raised Taemin and they all treat him like they are his parents, so they often worry about him, take care of him and stick up for him like proud parents, etc Jonghyyun was almost 4 years older than Taemin so he really looked out for him.) And because Taemin and Kai are best friends and are practically twins in almost every way, including being soft spoken, with similar "pretty boy" looks, background and dancing styles, etc., he was the perfect person to partner with Taemin on this song. But Kai's involvement in the song also meant that he had to take a departure from his EXO character and EXO's storyline, so I think that is one of the reason's why SM didn't make a MV for the song or why they don't perform it together very often. SM has the members of EXO so tied to their storyline and concept that they pretty much aren't allowed to do much that would take them away from that concept. So. when we do get to see the members stepping outside the group it's special and it's usually short lived.

This song is such a treat when you watch it live! I was never a biggest fan of it (rap in general is not my thing), but seeing it live on Taemin’s solo concerts made me completely change my mind. The energy, the upbeat vibe and Taemin being all cute, yet sexy and seductive made me scream with joy and chant all this “PPPP PRETTY BOY” on top of my lungs with the rest of the audience! Yes, there could have been an MV for it, but they’ve already made two for Danger and Ace so I guess that’s why they didn’t do another...

@@MONQTV I checked the tracklist in the album and it's correct :) the credits are usually correct on wiki, at least when it comes to SHINee's music.
