Hey Coach! I have a HS tryout on this Saturday. A month ago, I pitched 3 innings and threw a curve 40% of the time (My change wasn't working). My arm has been a little sore when I throw around and my elbow hasn't been hurting, but it has been feeling weird. A weird feeling, I don't like. Any advice for my tryouts? Should I go full 100%? (I warm up to throw, not throw to warm up+I always warm up). (I'M GOING AFTER 3RD OR SHORT NOT PITCHING!) I'm starting to get nervous because tryouts are for an elite travel team.

@@chessbricks2134 so there's a few things I'm thinking of - it's good that your elbow isn't hurting, I would definitely limit your pitch count until you're healed and try to lay off the curves until then (I know it's hard, but you have to think about long term, you don't want to make it worse where you can't throw at all).. Also, with tryouts - as long as you can throw comfortably, I think it's ok to do your normal thing on the field for the tryout. But if you feel anything get worse, definitely stop throwing. If you're worried about it impacting your performance, I would talk to the coach about it and see what he thinks. He could suggest you have a private tryout when you're healed. Any coach should be welcoming to that idea and not want their players to play through injury. I think it comes down to what you're comfortable with - if you think you can go out and have a great tryout, then go for it and keep monitoring your arm. If you don't think you can, I would talk to the coach and say basically "I really want to play and tryout, but I'm experiencing discomfort in my arm and don't want to make it worse - and see what he says. In the end, it's your arm and your decision - make the best decision for you and your baseball future. I hope this helps, best of luck on Saturday if you choose to tryout!! Let me know how it goes 👍

@@buildingbetterbaseball Thank you SO MUCH for your response coach! I really appreciate it! Yesterday I threw around a bit and I felt a tad bit of elbow weirdness when I started, but after I got started it went away. My arm felt good that night and this morning. I just threw and I felt less than a tad of elbow weirdness than yesterday. So my arm feels better then it did yesterday. :D I also will lay off my curve. To be honest I don't really want to pitch. My coach wants me to because I'm the 2nd best pitcher on the team. (I'm trying out for the team for fall ball and next spring). If my arm starts hurting or excess discomfort I will tell the coach what you said: "I really want to play and tryout, but I'm experiencing discomfort in my arm and don't want to make it worse." Thanks for everything coach! I subscribed and can't wait for more of your video's :D

@@chessbricks2134 Best of luck! I appreciate the sub, it makes me happy I'm helping young players / coaches like you. Always remember: do what's best for you, because one day you'll look back on your baseball career and you'll want to know that you played what you wanted to play. If you don't want to pitch - don't pitch lol. You're the one playing, not your coach. Your coach is there to do exactly that - to coach you. To teach you what he knows and allow you to use that information how you'd like. He's not there to tell you what's best for you, only you can decide that 👊
