Loved it when you said no water changes. I'm hoping I can try this again & if it works, I'd like to try adding a simple macroalgae that wouldn't mind limited water movement. If you or any veiwers could recommend some macroalgae species that could live in this setup, that would be appreciated. Take Care: Shawn

Hey Shawn. I use Chaeto for my macro algae however, I have heard a lot of folks having great success with an algae scrubber. I’m probably looking on putting one on my new tank setup.

Awesome, Thank You. Didn't know anything about algae scrubbers, gonna have to read up on them.

Any thoughts on brine shrimps or pods - who are best nutrient value/easier to breed? Yes pls - a video on the phyto🦾
@BillysReefRx2 жыл бұрын
I’ll make a video on the phyto this weekend or next. Super easy and low maintenance to culture. As far as brine vs pods, I have them for 2 different purposes. Brine shrimp as adults are not really nutritious for fish. Baby brine are much more nutritious. But my fish love them so I feed them that and other food. I culture the pods for my mandarin goby. Tigger pods from my research are easier to breed than other pods. And the brine shrimp are super easy and low maintenance.

Do you just feed the brine the straight fitoplancton water or powder

Hi Sir New sub. You mentioned that you keep the brine shrimp culture tank at higher salinity and feed the phytoplankton which is cultured at lower salinity from your other phytoplankton culture video. Plus only do top ups with ro. Can you share what's present salinity of the colony after running several months? Wouldn't the salinity be altered? 2.How much liquid volume of phytoplankton do feed & how often? 3. How long do you wait before harvesting brineshrimp to feed fishes etc.? 4. Do you harvest all sizes or only adults? 5. How long has the colony been self sustaining? 6. After initially adding live bbs did you add anymore afterwards? Thank you Sir. Appreciated information/ video.👏👏👏

Thanks for subscribing! It’s been a while since I’ve had the culture, but I think my salinity was close to 1.045. With feeding phoyto, the salinity would continue to creep up. I would usually add a 52oz bottles about once a week. They like the water green. I would harvest the brine shrimp once they reach adult size. About 2 months I think. I would harvest a variety of sizes for my fish. And yes, i would add bbs when I harvest some to keep the population going.

@@BillysReefRx Thank you Sir for replying. Do you have a video on how you mix you water to get the 1.045 salinity and what salts used? What the tank volume used in video?
@BillysReefRx Жыл бұрын
I believe in this video I talk about mixing salt. For what salt to use, instant ocean works fine.

@@BillysReefRx I'm newbie Can you do video on how to get water to specific salinity? Also what species of phytoplankton are you feeding brineshrimps?
@BillysReefRx Жыл бұрын
I don’t have my culture anymore. But to measure the salinity, you need a refractometer. And I do not call what species photo I used, I just bought what was available and it worked well.

Hi there people who dont know about saltwater how much salt do you put in cant find answer any where and whats photplanke thankyou for video thankyou from uk
@BillysReefRx2 жыл бұрын
Sorry for the delay in responding. Your best bet is to buy a hydrometer or refractometer to measure the salt to measure it. I’m not sure how many cups would be needed but I think 1 cup per gallon should do. Phytoplankton is that green stuff used to feed corals, pods, or brine shrimp. I’ll post a video soon on how to make that. I’ve been really sick but as soon as I get better I’ll make one.

Make sure to use marine salt

I done 8 litres and 18 tablespoons salt and feeding spiralina and liquifryNo1(egg and yeast in the ingredient) there growing very well 😀as they get bigger move to bigger tank from uk
