You should have your inventor buddy to create a garbage bag with a semi solid bottom with drainage holes that would come in a round flat box that you could dump everything into without using your hands at all and killing 2 birds with one stone rinsing and removal also he can create an attachment plastic ring that the bag can be held open on as well as be able to attach to a/the lip mainly for single man jobs without a human helper

Started one of these last summer! You nailed this right on the head man! I taped fliers on a bunch of cans around trash day and it wasn’t crazy effective for me, but still was worth it. Door to door was the best route. My buddy and I made about $400 a day charging $20 for one can and $30 for both. (We had some competition in the area and had to keep the prices lower) BRING A BROOM AND MULTIPLE GLOVES! There was some vile rotten dog sh- and who knows what else that washed up. You won’t want to use your main pair of gloves for handling that stuff.

Jacob J. Congratulations on your business adventure. You will always have competition .. but don't lower your prices .. You want to be known as the. Best and punctual. And all the good things you are. Let the competition lower their prices ... Sooner than you know they will realize that they are not making any money .. and won't be able to keep up with expenses or equipment repair Raise your prices instead. There is always people willing to pay you more . For the same job.. Just because you ask more and they have more... The job still the same... Keep up the quality work!

This is why insurance rates are going up so high. You can’t screw up washing a garbage can, however, there really is no market for it. You would have to be pretty lucky to get a profitable contract for cleaning garbage cans. However, most of the stuff this guy says is so far off. He’s a marketer not a pressure washer. When the blind lead the blind, markets become saturated, ticket prices go down, and insurance rates go up.

Usually do this every 1-2 years so its a huge savings.

Because of the dirtiness of the job $40-50 sounds good in my opinion but I’ve looked up can cleaning in my area and other major cities. A lot of guys that focus on can cleaning have a 100k truck setup and are only charging $10 for a can and $5 for additional cans. Feel like they are strongly undercutting themselves and making it difficult to compete due to the low service fees they charge. I’m not “hand washing” a can for $10. Yes they can become profitable if they build up to 1,000 cans monthly but that’ll take time and again I feel they are cutting themselves short for that type of service. What’s your thoughts?

Do you use the customers water or do you have your own water tank? If you use the customers water, how would you ask them to use their water?
@TedH71
@TedH71 Жыл бұрын
With that cheap pressure washer set up, you have to use the client's water. The fancy mobile ones that have their own water and also does hot water clean ups are worth thousands of dollars. Do a small investment first and if the business gets really going then you can consider buying a trailer that has the hot water/cold water combo with it's own water tank. You don't want to go big and find out there's not a huge market for your services and waste your $$ and have to make monthly payments.

So what are the regulations for that dirty water going into the storm drains?
@webventures
@webventures Жыл бұрын
If caught, you would be fined. Only rain water and muddy residue is supposed go down a storm sewer, as they lead directly to rivers or lakes.

Are clients concerned with what chemicals are used and do you have issues with letting chemicals wash down street to storm drains? Also, do you take the trash that comes out of the cans or bag it and deposit it back in their can when finished?

Wash water recovery is a big deal. I am in the mobile truck washing industry. Depending on the area, but most places the only water that should go down the storm drain is rain water. You could be subject to fines. I have spent most of my time and California. I now represent a National company and have travel to markets all over the US. So check your local laws to avoid a potential big fine.

I am a mobile detailer and our city will not allow soapy water go into the fresh water storm sewers. Vehicles need to be washed on grass or gravel. So, I don't think I would be able to clean cans as an add on service. I only do interiors to keep things simple Customers wouldn't like the residue from the cans ending up on their lawns or in their gravel driveway. Can cleaning is a nice, simple and profitable business idea, though, and certainly easier than detailing. 🙂

You could be fined for letting the dirty water go into the fresh rainwater storm drains. As for the lawn, if you had a nice lawn which you took time to create, would you want someone putting stinky, chemical laced residue on it? 🙂

Ain’t no way I’m paying someone to clean my GARBAGE can. I don’t even want to know what they’d charge for this because it’ll be entirely too much for such a minimal job. If someone’s can is that dirty to need this they have bigger issues.

It makes more sense to me to do the first one free or at the lower price, or ask for a donation of whatever they can afford. That way they will be more likely to let you clean their can, since it's free or cheap, and they will realize they both want and need your services. Then you give them your quarterly price that will be higher. That just seems a lot smarter. It seems your strategy is backwards.
