@Eddie Abbott There are always things to do in a small town. You just have to think outside the box. Landscaping is something that comes to mind. House's get dirty out there, so gutter cleaning, pressure washing, window washing. Maybe add all those services under a handyman umbrella. A lot junk cars in rural areas, try to work a deal with someone with a tow truck, and put out signs about buying junk cars. If it were me, I'd try to make money online 😁

@@eddieabbott370 ~ Don't know how the nextdoor app works. Might not be in small towns. But if you have it, its great for landscaping jobs. Couple of summers ago I built up a little business just getting on it and at least weekly someone would ask if anyone knew anyone who'd mow their yard. Boom, I'd jump on it. I'd get some to sign on as regular customers. Or if you just want to pick up a little money for an hour or two's work, you could do that too.

I must say, I was 1 of the 1st people to watch this video when it 1st came out. I was able to start my cargo van business, renting from priceline my 1st week $182 to rent the cargo van. A year and some change later I'm in my own Sprinter Van and doing really well for myself. You cannot find a cargo van for $300 a week anymore, this video has over 1million views. That is awesome to hear. You sound like a go-getter. The plan should always be to get into your own vehicle and work for yourself. Most people doubt themselves and never get started; some complain without even trying. Since starting this channel, I have met so many go-getters out there. Starting your own business requires fast thinking and the ability to adapt when needed, and not everybody has that in them. I've met many people just like you, and it is a recurring theme with them. Great video, very informative, but you left out a major part...INSURANCE. That seems like it would be an important feature and can greatly add to expenses when getting a rental cargo van, especially considering the scratches and dents that can happen when moving large items. I'm not sure about insurance for the vans but I know Hertz charges $35-$45 per day for full coverage insurance on regular cars. That would be double the rental costs if you could find a cargo van for $35/day. If you have your own business, perhaps you can talk to your insurance agent and get coverage but would they cover rental vans? What is that price range? Also, I'm in L.A. and I just went on to Priceline and looked under 'vans' and they had a number of mini-vans and passenger vans...but zero cargo vans for rent.

Not to shit on the BoxLyfe, but my heart goes out to everyone who hustling self-employed like this. The money might be good, but if anything bad happens you are on your own. Loans of any kind (including debt-paying methods) shrink drastically once you don't have a salary. If your doing this in America, you surely not insured yourself... Especially since your on the road the entire day sometimes, you are always one stray car riding into your vans side away from ruining your life (financially if not physically). Even if you get eventually get paid for the injuries by the perpetrator, in a swift legal battle that would be in a couple years, if your unlucky maybe as many as 5 - if your uninsured I'm not sure many can say they can say they can live with crippling medical debt.

When it comes to dumping paint, find out if the restrictions are limited to liquids only or do they apply to dried paint. Since many of those junk removal jobs are due to remodeling, you (or your client) can use the old carpet as a 'paint pond' to turn liquid into accepted dry paint for dumping. Check your area for specifics. Advise your client in advance if possible so when you arrive, you already have a dried paint pond for removal. I don't do this business, but I am highly considering it. The paint pond idea comes from people I know in the remodeling business.

There's no option for vans listed in So Cal. I've been doing Shiply and Uship for a couple of years. I use my F250 with a Lift Gate, however, it's very difficult finding and getting good paying loads on a regular basis, especially for the amount of driving involved. I prefer delivering furniture to locals. Less driving and less fuel consumption and higher profits. For example: I charge $150 to deliver a couch 10 miles away. Pay my helper $35. Fuel is around $15 for that distance roundtrip. That's a $100 for 1 to 1-1/2 hour job.

the stuff you showed us from shiply was in the UK. once you filter it down locally, usually there is not as much to choose from. slim pickings at best. Roadie is in the US only, and still pretty low availability of decent jobs. Amazon Flex is only available in major cities, pretty much. Junk removal is an ok option, but EVERYBODY and their uncle, and your uncles cat, is doing it. so, yeah. not as easy as y'all think. Once you rent the truck and spend that money, it is a gamble whether or not you will even get enough to pay off the truck, let alone any help you may need to hire. Other than all that, great video. I appreciate this video and the information you provided. Not sure when this video was made but I wish the cargo vans were this cheap in my area. I’m in Dallas, TX and when I hit Priceline, the vans are actually being rented through enterprise. If there’s something different I need to do for that to not happen, I’m all ears. I’ve tried filtering it a few times but had no luck and it still pulls the van from enterprise.

You may want to sign up with a commercial account, to get a lower rate. This video got over 150k views, and people snagged them up faster than flies on poop. If you can get a fair rate, it may still be worth it.

There are some excellent resources here and I appreciate that but there is one thing I'd like to offer a correction on based on my own experience selling furniture and dealing with home delivery and set up. DO NOT assume that your regular car insurance is enough for commercial delivery. Do NOT go into people's home's to deliver furniture or remove junk without getting some kind of personal insurance or bonding. If you try to do these jobs without adequate insurance eventual it is going to bite you in the ass. If your personal car insurance company finds out you were involved in a wreck where you were being paid to move something and don't have a commercial policy with them they can choose not to cover you, they can cancel your insurance, YOU could personally be on the hook for lots of bills. If you move furniture into somebody's house and you are not personally insured and damage occurs you could personally be on the hook for the repair costs. Yes this is definitely a good way to be your own boss but always remember CYA...

Vans on back order. Just go to your local dealership and try to buy a van. It’s all used. Hertz had to sell the vans with high mileage and manufacturing isn’t keeping up with demand.
