It is also true that folks in China have figured out how to do the same thing with lots of industries (not just gems and minerals) it is part of a larger trend affecting many industries (have you looked @ who is selling on amazon?!) Listen, i dont know Barbie, i just started following her, but i had to stop and call you and your rant out because it's not true and it's extremely extra. Go ahead and blame her for the worlds economy if you'd like and if it makes you feel better but i have to wonder if your blame and need to be extra in this way is just a reflection of who you are and your need to assign blame to others.

I have been considering opening a shop or doing online FB sales for awhile. Have been just nervous since I have never done anything like this before. And it's hard to decide who to trust on guiding you in the right direction. Finding someone to break it down for you to let you know how things may go to help decide if it is right for you or maybe not right for you. I think my main thing that holds me back is understanding the tax part. I don't want to do it wrong and owe loads of money. That's what is holding me back. Like do I need a license to sell on etsy or FB lives. Do I need an LLC to do it. Do I need anything special if I also decided to do vendor events. Thank you so much for this video. The best deals I found was a nice gent from China. The best fair priced on his live Instagram. A lot will sell you bulk items & give you discounts for your business. He is a sweetheart & his wife too. They will give you deals like buy 4 get one free ect. They are loyal.

Thank you Barbie! You are very sweet, great on camera, and is very generous to share your knowledge. I was a Silversmith for many years. I did some gold, and sometimes combined gold and silver. Had a business for almost 20 years until the recession in 2008. Then I became an RN. I bought and set many kinds of stones and gems. One important thing Barbie did not mention in this video, is the importance of really educating yourself on what you are selling. People buy crystals and gemstones for different reasons. Some for the natural aesthetic, of something that comes from the earth. Others for their healing or chakra properties. Some for resale, to make jewelry, or gifts, etc. I’m just saying that people buy for different reasons. It’s important for the seller to educate themselves on every aspect they can of what you are selling. Customers want to know, and it will help your sales. I was always willing to help others wanting to learn, and taught classes for many years. It’s good Karma! 🔮

This is such a valuable video with tones of honest and objective opinions. I know at least three Brazilians who open crystal shops in America and order products from China. One time I saw two huge packaging boxes with Chinese signs lying in front of the shop. I immediately asked the owner if they source from China. They did not deny but told me that sometimes they don't even order from their home country because dealers in China price the items even lower than their friends in Brazil. So, why Chinese sellers sell crystals even cheaper than the crystals come out from Brazil? The reason is obvious, the dealers from China always order everything with a much larger quantity from Brazilian mines. More importantly, factories in China always PAY the CASH IN FRONT. If someone buys all your items and pays you cash before your shipment, would you give that person the best deal? The answer is absolute YES.

Yes! In china they can buy large quantities of raw stone and get it polished in china for much cheaper because they have efficiencies that other countries don’t have! That’s why a lot of polished stones come from China and better prices!

I actually mainly shop two wholesalers I’ve been shopping with them for over a year and we have a really great relationship! I have a few other I watch on occasion as well! I know some US sellers do whole sale lives too! You’ll just have to shop around and see who you like! 💕

Hi, great questions! typically your business isn't considered a business until you're making about $20,000 a year give or take. So until you're getting close to that I would just pay your taxes as normal. Once you get close to that I'd recommend working with a business advisor. Its hard to recommend how to manage those things because I'm not sure what would or wouldn't work with your business. One of the ladies that I attend her lives shows was having such a big problem with people not paying invoices that she only gives people only 30 minutes to pay for their item before the item goes to the next person who marked sold. She offers afterpay too for her lives so people can make payments and not have to pay for it up front.

I'm looking to start my own crystal business, however my biggest concern is I want to make sure I'm only buying and selling crystals that are sustainably/ethically sourced. Does anyone have any advice for this? It sounds like when buying inventory, there's a lot of middlemen and the true mining conditions might be hard to know much about unless you have a direct relationship with the miners. I just don't want to indirectly contribute to child labor or inhumane working conditions since these mines are in other parts of the world that might not have the same labor laws/regulations that we have... long post, but would appreciate any and all feedback! Thanks!

I would recommend finding local miners in your state to start and meet with them and learn about their business! I know many people who drive out of state to support ethically sourced miners and suppliers! For sure more work and more research and likely a higher cost, but definitely something you can do!
