Before automating power, start with hand fed power, and red science. Getting automation early is super helpful. A couple of assemblers making gears and cables helps a lot and reduces a ton of handcrafting you're doing there. Before automating red science, it's worth making a mall, so again you won't need to handcraft so much. 1 belt of iron, and 1 belt of circuits+gears lets you make almost everything in the early game, including green sciences, so it works out nicely. Your iron/copper isn't actually automated as it doesn't have fuel going in. It's fine now, but you'll eventually want to automate, so why not early? The standard is ore+coal belts from outside, with the output in the middle. Still, the fact you complete it in 8 hours is great, and shows there are many ways to play the game, and that it's really not that a hard task for an average player.
