You can also try to get clients by looking up some small businesses in you area. See if they have a website or not. If they have check if the website is good enough. Design them a website email them or call them or go to them personally. Dont charge too much on small businesses but deliver quality content. It will increase your reputation

This is the great way to go, because these small business owners would tell everyone that they have a website with pride so it will help the web developer to extend the network

Ran I have been following you for the last couple of months and your content is super valuable. Even after 3-4 years in the industry I still learn a bunch of things from your vids. It is interesting to me, that I am thinking about building my personal branding as a web designer, how you create the content, specifically, how you come up with the ideas on what you are going to talk about and then how you prepare the material and how long it takes you. Thanks

I really like your backdrop man, made me want to switch mine from the white wall to the current one haha. It's really important for creatives to remember the business aspect of things, though, so I think a few people will be thankful for this 😎

Do you host all the websites you make on one hosting account or do you hand over the website with host you bought the domain with. Or do you buy a new just plan for every website you are creating for a client?

Great video. A question if I may. Do you do your initial "Strategy Session" before or after you have given them a price?
@fortcratefortcrate5684
@fortcratefortcrate5684 4 жыл бұрын
What would you do? If I threw a price like 10k at you and you think that’s absurd, while I’m going over the strategy you’re likely to be distracted still trying to work out why such a high price. You’ll start nitpicking, pulling things apart, frustrated trying to find that 10k value. Now the latter, we go over the strategy and you’re getting excited because we don’t just show you how to get rid of the problems but show you how to make things better. Bring in more traffic, better leads, making the user feel more engaged. Once they’re excited and see the value to them then they’ll have an easier time processing the monetary value or might even have one in their heads. This is all imo of course and doesn’t always work. Some people won’t even get in a call with you unless they have a price.
@krimo5700
@krimo5700 4 жыл бұрын
Usually you should do the "Strategy Session" before you give them your price. However, they should at least be aware of the RANGE of your services, how to do that? it can be a telephone call where you throw a random number like "Usually websites like those which you are talking about would cost starting from **,***$..." or something like that, so if they continued with you, now you know that you both have a common sense about what's going to happen.

Hi Ran, What Weflow plan would you recommend for an early-stage web development company looking to use Webflow in service delivery?

Hey Chukwuma! I'd start by defining what you want the website to do, then I would compare the Webflow plans and web development platforms.

Hi Ran, in an other usefull video you talk about the importance to niche down the type of client you want to work with, I'm a 3D artist and although I'm specialized in realistic hardsurface modeling and rendering, this can be used in many differents fields so I have no idea who to reach out to! How can I narrow it down to a specific niche/type of clients/industry to focus on trying to work with ?

Great video. Once you have that all, how do you see if a lead or a prospect is qualified to pay you for the effort that you put. I had a 2 hour 40 mins skype call with a client whom I thought can afford a $3000 website redesign but at the end of the call he wanted to bargain down to $500. Waste of effort n time. We can not do a strategic design in this price. Can you also make an video on that please which can help us see if a prospect is a qualified lead or not
@ShanePullen

Just a suggestion, But I always research the client and business as much as possible before a call/meeting. If the client's business is a cafe, its unlikely they'll have 3K for a website. But if its a Legal firm, 3K is not a lot to them. This isn't always possible, it may be a new niche business - In that case I'd ask what their budget is early in the first meeting. Some people don't like doing this, but you have to know how much time you can spend on a project before creating anything. If the client doesn't like you asking how much their budget is, I don't think they're really serious about the project

An advice I heard a lot is to talk about money early on in the conversation. I know it seems wrong at first and for some money is a sensitive topic, but in reality this is how it works. Just be friendly when asking and give a simple reason. For example, "Listen, before we get in this conversation and we waste each others time - as a CEO you obviously know how valuable time is - let's start with talking about the budget, so we can estimate if you can afford my services." or something similar. If you want to learn more about pricing, make sure to check out thefutur on KZbin. They made a lot of videos about it. Very helpful! Cheers!

I do understand your situation but please rule number one is no 2h40min FIRST Skype call. Having a long call makes you feel good I know, that means that the client likes you and you have proved your value enough, but guess what ? as soon as you proved your point you moved from a meeting (getting to know each others) to free consultation and I really doubt you are doing that for free so long story short as commented above if you can get to know the budget do it, if not, as soon as you feel like you hooked the prospect and proved your expertise enough start speaking about having a more in-depth meeting (where you will get technical and strategic) but between those you will send your quote and ask for an upfront hence officially start working.
