How To Start And End Blues Songs On Your Guitar

After returning from a great hang with a bunch of Blues Guitar Unleashed members and a few days of jamming, I realized it was time to talk about beginning and ending your blues songs...
When you know how this works from the 30,000 foot view, you realize pretty quickly that most songs are the same, or pretty darn close...
And that, of course, makes it so that you actually know a LOT more songs that you realize.

7:00 Can you explain that 6/9 chord ending the Rockabilly teachers seem to like?

I first heard that chord on a Buddy Holly song, the last chord in 'Heartbeat'. I tried figuring it out by ear but just couldn't get it so I cheated and looked at the guitar Tab....it was an A9 with a 6th added...obviously...as per the name. Damian Bacci uses them a lot for his Rockabilly/Jump Blues/Swing instructional lessons. one way to play an A6/9 is to bar the 5th frets of 1st and 2nd strings, bar the 4th frets of the 3rd and 4th strings, play the 5th string A open and mute the 6th string. looking down the strings from the open A string the notes are: A, F#, B, E, A....(B is the 9th and F# is the 6th).

@@49moet yep me too. I was used to playing 9th chords so it took some practice to change to the 6/9 chord fluently.
