Great video!!! I mm retired and have started to film conferences, seminars and meetings using a 4 camera setup as a solo. Learned the craft by doing numerous of sessions and learned from my misstakes and now feel confident in what I am doing. Besides learning some valuable tricks ( splitting the signal from the mixer into my Zoom H6 ) I was deeply taken by the fact that I am doing the things more or less the same as you proving I am on the right track. I also recognize the feeling that after a succsessful shoot you most remember the misstakes, but still is proud of mission accomplished. Many thanks for the video that was very important and valuable for me. /Retired DP manager loving filmmaking

I am a big fan of your BTS cause I learn more than watching tutorial videos. BTS are real world examples of what's going on during the wedding and the thought process of the film maker, the challenges they face from lighting conditions to cluttered rooms, their camera movements, when to switch from gimbal to handheld. I love these guys

Great video! I filmed my sons wedding using a BMPCC 6K and a DJI RS2. Set it to raw and auto white balance and used a focus wheel. The RS2 does the flip down handle thing as well. Nice about BMPCC is that I use DR for post and can adjust any white balance.

This is going to be in a list of a few of the most valuable videos to me for this year as I'm shooting a friends wedding (lockdown depending) this year. I'm mainly a photog for music events, but have background in video and editing from previous work ten years ago and still keep warm with the technologies, but shooting and directing is something I've not done since college because Event Photography feels very natural for me. So yea, going to binge your videos and if you have any books or other content I should take on board, please do let me know.

@WeddingFilmSchool
@WeddingFilmSchool 3 жыл бұрын
Depends on what you want to make! We do it both ways depending on the edit. I can tell the difference between 24 and 60 and I don’t think it’s that hard to switch so I often switch for speeches and anything I KNOW I want normal speed. That’s being said, many many wedding filmmakers shoot 60 ALL DAY, and that’s ok too. 60 takes more storage and battery, so that’s one thing to keep in mind. Def personal preference here for the most part though. - Jay

I might be the minority here but I’ve shot nothing but solo wedding videos and until today, have never watched someone else’s solo wedding shooting process. This is a great representation. I was super relieved to see my years of trial and error landed me somewhere in the ballpark of what to do and what not to do! That being said, QUESTION: A video specifically on wedding video audio; sound boards, working with DJs for audio, quarter inch out, line mics, splitting, etc. Would be super helpful if you guys haven’t done a video on that already! I feel like perfecting audio is the final frontier for wedding videographers and needs major recognition!!

I like a low wide shot personally. it means the photographer is not going to get tripods in their close-ups. It also means I’m going to get a lot of ceiling which in this case looked incredible. I don’t like to show a lot of floor because it’s pretty boring in most cases

It depends on the shot. If I need it to have a little bit of tilt then I keep it on. The batteries are great on the Weebil S. Usually I turn it off for the ceremony because I can just lock it off and have it be a straightforward shot. -Jared

What going lightweight means in different cultures varies vastly! I fit 2 cameras, 3 lenses, sound gear, lights and stands(if needed), small tripod in a Lowepro 400 backpack...and I think it's almost too much gear!

This was awesome! One quick question. You're using 3 cameras but where does your gimbal go when you're shooting hand held?
@WeddingFilmSchool
@WeddingFilmSchool 3 жыл бұрын
We'll need to shoot a video with the rig. The gimbal goes on a tripod to double as the wide shot. It's essentially a zyhiun crane quick adapter attached to a Manfrotto quick plate. This means I can pull off my wide shot to get gimbal work in a single second.

If A gimbal camera isn’t being used I'd usually just have it set up on the ground until I’m ready to move to a new position. I wouldn’t want to put it back in a bag. Back means slower access and potentially thrown off balance on the gimbal. Not sure if that answers your question

Do you use IBIS when on the Weebill-S? I always find it is always a comprise between getting rid of micro-jitters but a downside of having the occasional flick of the X-T4's IBIS trying to catch up with camera movement.

They are great cameras! We have def found they CAN overheat when you shoot 4K60 with IBIS and AF on but we have found if you just monitor it (it has a warning icon) and turn off the IBIS and AF when your not using it it’s very manageable. I personally have never had one overheat btw. - Jay

The new firmware essentially prevents them from overheating to the point of stopping the recording. You may get the indicator around 15 to 20 minutes of non-stop recording but it hasn’t been a problem for me. -Jared

Just a quick question. In the beginning when shooting the detail shots of the dress, jewellery are you using the ibis? I have the 18-55 ois and that combo it's just making everything really weird and jerky but I guess it would be less of a problem if i zoom in. Love you wedding videos... Best TV ever!

Did my first solo wedding last year and I was a beast of an experience lol. To say it was tedious and took a lot of on the fly adjustments is an understatement lol. Back then I had a little G100 which is more of a vlogging camera but it came out pretty ok. Now I have a big boy S5. Would the G100 be ok for the secondary? It does do 4k 60 but it's cropped and 8 bit. Also did you shoot in some kind of log or was this a more normal picture profile?
@WeddingFilmSchool
@WeddingFilmSchool 2 жыл бұрын
I would think that G 100 would be perfectly fine as a second camera. Obviously it kind of depends on what you tell your clients but it’s definitely nothing that should be off the table. In terms of how we shoot, this film was shot in pretty much a standard picture profile but we should log for some weddings. It really depends on the brand that we’re shooting and the level of post production we want to do on the film. There’s definitely nothing wrong with shooting in a delivery ready picture profile. People get obsessed with shooting log and often times don’t even really know what problem they are solving by shooting log. If you are shooting log and you love it then keep doing it but if you were shooting in a standard profile and you and your clients love it and keep doing that. - Jay

@@WeddingFilmSchool thanks so much for the response!!! Looking at your behind the scenes showed me i need to be a bit more like assertive to help me get better footage. Not too assertive lol but i was absolutely passive my first time. Yeah it was good enough to land me a second gig this year! Yeah I'm not too crazy about log most clients don't care about pretty much anything as long as it sounds and looks good. One more question. Was the majority of your footage shot on the gimbal or handheld and have you ever done one fully handheld? Asking bc the S5 seems so much more smooth than that G100 that I haven't used my gimbal since. Also I have a FeiyuTech and it's nowhere near as versatile as that one you're using here
