Im going to start learning how to play electric guitar hopefully in a week honestly my goal is to be able to play something good enough with in a year, knowing ill suck for awhile seeing others that start slow and go up keeps me more motivated to not give up right away

I suggest you to play songs that you like (easy version of them) or else you’ll get bored and give up. I learned E/Em/A/Am/D/Dm/G/C (basic triad chords) for 1 month (from October to November). I learned my fav songs like perfect by Ed Sheeran (with capo 1st fret). I got bored so I looked up barre chords because I heard they were difficult. I tried to learn de F chord but I found it really difficult. Then I watched this video telling me not learn the F chord first but try with easier barre chords (with root on the A string) and I was shook that I could actually play Bm. It made me so happy that I kept learning “barre chords”. One month passed and I fell in love with jazz ( i was getting so bored of strumming and pop songs). I learned how to read guitar tabs and started learning harder chords like Cmaj7 etc. To be honest it’s really hard but I enjoy it so much that I play everyday instead of practice for my exam which is tomorrow. So from november to February I kept practicing my basic chord so I don’t forget them and I try to incorporate my knowledge of barre chord and jazz chords. (Btw while writing this I tried to do the f chord and IT WORKED) Btw my biggest challenge is switching between barre chords

I've been wanting to learn guitar for a while & just got one for Christmas. I literally have zero experience in any music whatsoever, but fingerstyle is the best sounding way of guitar playing to me and it's honestly what I want to learn most. But would it be better to just learn to play with a pick first and then move to fingerstyle once I'm more accustomed to the guitar? Or is starting off with fingerstyle okay to do?

Astrillic in my opinión start with picking first, then once you feel comfortable move to finger style

Honestly how I started playing guitar was with finger-style I just but most importantly learn some chords first and perfect your chords so you can start messing around with fingerstyle
@jagooswell79935 жыл бұрын
@@ricketysticks not trying to contradict @davidplaysguitar but play with either first, whichever feels more natural/comfortable. i started with a balance of both and it helps later on if you don't stay with one style.

sorry but I completely disagree, you can learn fingerstyle in a week or day, I have a 19 yr old brother hes not normal Ithink and Im sure he is in autism. I didnt teach him guitar. he is super fan of polphia, marcin patrzalek and jazz bebop, he doesnt know any chords because he doesnt like to know ,he is technical , but I was surprised that in just 1 or 2days he can play the main riff of playing god and its the first song that he learned and other day followed by abc and started listening to marcin kashmir and learned it all are just main riffs. We enrolled him when he was a kid in piano school reading notes but he didnt continue he doesnt like reading notes more on hearing and visual he can already play it .
