That’s what I’m doing. I’ve had traditional locs for 7 years now and I used to only retwist every 4 to 5 months. Then I went a year without retwist and now I’m just not manipulating my locs at all. Just wash and keep them piled.

My sister had her fro. She would call me in her room and show me the locs that started lol she would comb them out. She wants to start locs but she waiting for the right time

I keep hearing to not semi-free form from lociticans one told me she'd charge me double then another refused after my consultation bc she only wants to work on 'uniform and neat hair' (prob just to post) then the last one said if I semi-free form all my hair would fall out...growing up around rasta or people w locs though ive never heard of that! Living in a predominantly white city is hard because most of these locticans only work on their heads or are anti-free form/semi free form so it was great to hear someone explain how to start w semi free forms early in their journey !

I am 4 months in and only retwist once (my loc'd partner did it for me) but I do wanna make sure im on the right path for healthy hair
@holisticflo Жыл бұрын
That is why while I do appreciate locticians, I advocate for learing your own hair, which I'm glad you do! To me, there is nothing wrong with semi freeforming if your locs have a strong base

I’m 8 months loc’ed and I’ve only retwisted twice for months 1 and 2. I just KNEW I’d be obsessed with maintenance, but l now I couldn’t be bothered. My hair is so coily so it twist on it’s own at the roots. I’m so surprised that my hair is just doing it’s thing with almost no maintenance!

Hi. I just started my hair growth journey; and my hair is 6months now.. I wanna know if it’s okay for me to be applying hair growth hair cream on my hair every day?? Not like I wash my hair everyday(just let water on it but no washing) but I apply hair cream on it every time I take a shower
@holisticflo4 ай бұрын
I think every day may be excessive, but i dont know how your hair type is so it could be okay, it depends on mulitple factors

@holisticflo8 ай бұрын
Avoid thinning by making sure your hair is still going into sections.

Is it possible to begin semi freeforming with starter locs, or do i have to get a retwist first?

Is it anyway your comb coils can turn to Freeform and is it bad to wet your starter locks or bush them so they can lay down
@holisticflo Жыл бұрын
Yes you could freeform with comb coils they would be moreso semi freeform. I sould avoid brushing the locs until about 8 or 9 months
@robertgilliam2821 Жыл бұрын
So you can get the coils once then just allow the hair to continue to grow w/o retwist?

There’s always someone to come along and try place people into categories. Who cares. Call it what you want; it’s your hair. Do what you want with it. How come other races don’t make a big deal over what to call their hair?
@holisticflo11 ай бұрын
Humans enjoy being put into categories if you look at the entire language and ego. We thrive off of what we "identify as". Most humans, at least. Others just play along with it to survive
