I love these types of videos on "How to do KZbin" that go past finding an niche or audience and find this topic very helpful. I want to know more about the norms of sponsorships or what realistic expectations of crearive control with sponsored content. Like is the time of the sponsorship ad in the video typical negotiable? What is and isn't reasonable stipulations for the brand to put in place? Is it smart to enter a contract that requires to hit a certain view count to get a good pay out or what are some broad and common requirements brands may ask in a contract? Thanks for making these types of videos Roberto. Happy new year & much love to you my friend ❤-Megan

Everything is negotiable if you're willing to walk away. Creating that kind of leverage is really important. NEVER do performance contingency contracts. Like NEVER. The most unreasonable thing is you giving up ownership of the video to them. You can license them usage but you should limit what they can do and for how long and they should have as little say as possible in being able to request you take down the video.

@@RobertoBlake @Lovers of Animals! is right though. This is the kind of information that is *needed* if someone is really serious about making their KZbin channel a serious business. The reason the views aren't high is because the content is unsexy and executing requires actual work, which sadly, the average viewer isn't going to want to do. That quote about successful people being willing to do what everyone else isn't willing to do comes to mind. Keep up the good work I'm slowly making my way through this playlist and this effort is truly appreciated.

Hey Roberto, just wanted to give you a huge thanks. I'm actually relatively successful on KZbin right now, but I've been following you for a long while before then, and even though at this point I've mostly fully grasped the game, you're still such a humble and true content creator. For that I truly thank you as the landscape is changing and everyone is chasing money, which just makes the experience for most users worse. Eventually I see this being replaced, for better or worse. Thanks again.

I just found your channel and I'm loving it.Two questions: 1) Do you recommend sending a rate card with the media kit? And how often do I re-evaluate my rates? I've been looking at them every quarter and evaluating whether to raise rates. 2) How do I value previous work experience in my brand deals? I worked in radio and have been a public speaker and voiceover artist for over 30 years. I feel like my experience should count for something when it comes to putting together a sponsorship package for my KZbin channel. But, I don't know what kind of monetary value to put on it. Thanks so much.

What are your thoughts on creating 3 price options in any proposal for a brand deal/sponsorship - I like the idea of giving a brand options so they have something to compare those options to. Instead of comparing me to other creators and how much they charge, they can compare my options. Each option has increasing value that gives them an idea of HOW to work with me vs IF they will work with me (when you only give one price option). You'd rather go to a grocery store with three sizes of Doritos (Single, Regular, Party) and three price options vs. just one size/option.

I'm curious of how brands see the value of partnerships depending on the platform/media. I have heard a few times that some brands seem to be seeing podcast sponsorship as a good value cause listeners tend to have a higher retention rate than some other forms of media. I guess I was just wondering if that was true. Thanks so much for sharing all your sponsorship knowledge!

@@RobertoBlake thanks! Really between this video and the one about how to charge for sponsorships set my focus, informed me of stuff I was clueless about, and validated thoughts I was already having. Your advice on considering what you would charge based on deliverables is key. I do freelance video as well and I have specifics that I charge for that. The thing about reputation is so helpful and that the audience is a value add, not the starting point. My audience on YT is pretty small at the moment, but I’m very connected with a lot of people in the community that could both boost the potential sponsoring company as well as my YT subscribers and email list. I think it’s helping me find my niche and I’m excited about that. Thanks again!

Without exaggeration what is your most honest pitch on what you can bring to the table for a brand that would be with it to them for the money you’d want to earn? If you can’t honestly answer that… Then it means you haven’t built a brand and audience that makes you a candidate for brand deals just because you’ve gained subscribers … In which case you have to consider if you can change that, build another Channel that is easier to monetize … or consider other monetization methods that fit the brand you’ve built …

Is it reasonable to think that a good, full-time living (say 3-5k per month) can be made as a full-time KZbinr even without brand deals?
