Nice breakdown. I would like to add one more technique. That's halflemons, when you are making a lemon with only one foot while the other is skating straight and then change the feet. It also may look like a normal stride with constant contact of both feet with the ground. Very useful technique
@skamidanen6 жыл бұрын
Hey Nik, first I didn't understand what you mean, but finally I get it. So you're totally right, the half lemon would also be a good method or technique to learn the full lemon, as well to gain speed while skating forwards and backwards. Thanks pretty much for adding! 💪🙂🙏

Thanks for another great video! Looking forward to trying to master the crossover lemon style!
Something I learned the hard way: Never fall on your hands, I sprained right wrist. Try to knee fall and if that isn't possible, then fall on your shoulder. Your shoulder can withstand much more weight before it breaks than your wrist. An essential skill to any skater, inline or quads, is the cross-over. To do it, simply (while going forwards) put one foot over the other so that it lands on the other side of the other foot. It is best to start slow, as with all things. This move is used mostly for turning or for dodging an obstacle (for example: a person) that might be impossible otherwise. This has actually saved me on multiple occasions. I'm still by no means a master, but, a good way to start skating backwards is to put both feet close to each other but angle your dominant foot slightly outwards, then push outwards. As your skill level goes up, you can move on to doing both feet, and after that, to turning while moving backwards. After that, try working on doing cross-overs while going backwards. Good places to practice roller skating/blading are, in order of what I personally think is best are: A roller rink - You can get advice from other people, and ask them to point out things you're doing wrong A skate park - Not the most friendly to roller skaters/bladers due to some weird misconception that we are not as worthy as our two wheel cousins, but has its advantages Your driveway - A good place to practice anything outside really A basketball court - Only if no one is using it, but is generally a very smooth surface.

Cool videos however I'd like to offer a suggestion for improvements. In the first video you talk about and show proper posture and slowly taking your first baby steps on the skates. This is great. However right out of nowhere in this video (which is part to for __beginners__) you talk about sprinting and moving faster. I have very little experience with inline skates (ended up badly but will soon start again) however I have more than 10 years of skiing experience (not a pro, but I have had my moments :)). One of the first things you should teach is: - how to fall properly - falling properly is a must for whatever sport activity you do that can lead to a fall. I had an accident 2 years or so ago that led to two surgeries (plate insertion and removal) and becoming 100kg for approx. a year between the two surgeries. It was a painful experience due to a stupid situation that occurred on the skating grounds (stupid children started playing football on it, one moment I hear a ball coming at me, got scared I will run over a child, fell on one hand WITH full wrist-protection and broke my hand and dislocated my wrist) - how to do basic stopping - show how to use the breaking pad at the back of one of your skates and also do a V-break (similar to skiing where you put your legs slightly pointing inward so that you slowly reduce your speed).
@skamidanen5 жыл бұрын
Hey there, first of all thank you very much for that awesome feedback! I really appreaciate it and it's exactly that what I love in sports. Hey, thanks so much for the video. I've got a 5.5 yo daughter who has never tried skating. I don't know how to roller skate properly either so we both wanted to know. I want to learn inline roller skating, but for her, what would you recommend to start, the same inline roller skates or those ones which have 2x2 wheels instead and then in a few months/years change to inline skates as well?
@skamidanen5 жыл бұрын
For young kids it's easier to start with roller skates "2x2", than with inine skates. But both is possible. On inline skates the stability in front and back is better and in roller skates the stability to the sides is better. I would say, ask you're daughter what she would prefer "without thinking about the advantages and disadvantages of the different types of skates".

I bought a pair of skates. Tried skating as instructed in your video. Is it ok if my feet hurt after my first skating session? And the front wheels on both of my skates got chewed up badly so I have to replace them. What am I doing wrong?
@skamidanen5 жыл бұрын
It's totally normal your feet hurt after the first sessions. But if they will hurt after more than several sessions the skates doesn't fit correcty. If so you have a few options to fix it. 1. Put another insole or shock absorber into your boot. It will change the height of your feet and maybe this will fix your problem. 2. If the skate is heat mouldable just try out to heat mould your boots. 3. Try to wear special skate socks or/and thick footies. 4. Cut the inner side of the liner at the hurting points, so your feet will habe more space and maybe without pressure points. Because of your wheels. The most of us skates have a higher wear out of the front wheels. Just rotate and turn your wheels like I explain in the following video: 4-Wheels: kzbin.info/www/bejne/j4TPfGVtqLOqobs 3-Wheels: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fqPKYoCfa6mLjbc 2-Wheels: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hJianXeYgJJ6Z8U Lastly avoid doing a T-Stop only with your front wheels. ✌

Hallo Patricia, my favourite startet skate is the "Powerslide Next 80 All Black" skate. This skate is very comfy! In addition this skate has a very nice liner, a trinity frame for best control and 4x80mm for an excelent maneuverability. Very good brands are Powerslide, Rollerblade and Adapt brand. For beginners and casual skaters K2 skates are also okay. I myself prefer POWERSLIDE brand. ✌

@@skamidanen What do you think of Seba/FR Skates?

All the SEBA skates I know are also very nice skates, but not the cheap models, especially the SEBA FR 1 skate. But I would miss the Trinity Mounting system, so I prefer Powerslide skates.

@@skamidanen Thanks. I am enjoying watching the playlist of Inline Skating Basics! Also saw the skateschool ones and was really impressed by what you were getting the kids to do in the Summer School, going downhill and jumping over cones and off the edge of the raised area where the trees are, impressive! Was that their first day?

Awesome, I really appreaciate that you enjoy my channel that much! The last years summer schools were just amazing. The day I've filmed for the summer school videos was the very first day for those group of kids. And yes, it was really impressive how quick they have improved their abillities on skates! Some of them could hardly skate at the beginning and at the end of the day they were able to skate stairs, do jumps from the raised area and so on. I'm looking forwards to this years summer school! 😍 But what about you, did you just start skating or do you just love the basic videos? It's so nice to hear, thank you! 😇🙏

When going down a hill you will become faster and faster and you will have a lot of fun. But of course you can brake, slow down and stop using the right techniques you can learn from my other videos: kzbin.info/aero/PLq5U4-rD1f_XNo13CzIl6NaUKgs3a8HKF
