I’ve tried 4 or 5 times now but how on earth do you read Batman (2016-) comics and Batman Detectives Comics (2016-)? The volumes don’t flow or make sense especially after the Batman Detective Comics 2016 after Black Lightning team up it seems really out of order… Also the end of Batman 2016 is Shadow War and the end of Batman Detective Comics 2016 is Gotham Nocturne Intermezzo… I can’t find what’s next. Is it easier to read single issues and what’s the order?

Thanks for this video, it is VERY confusing for someone who is interested, but has never read anything before. So many timelines, characters and honestly I'm only interested in Batman, at least for now, since I heard they wrote a good Bat-Cat story.

Hey guys randomly came across this video absolutely awesome video, unfortunately due to financial reasons I had to stop collecting comics during rebirth! 1 suggestion I feel u missed out to new readers is even trying digital (frown upon I know) I prefer paper collection personally but digitally is a great option too for storage and comixology always has sales on

Michael Moor Hey thanks!! We appreciate that! I'm not really sure if Chris had thought of it but that totally slipped my mind at the time. It is a very convenient way to at least get started before switching to physical (which is preferred lol). I'll make sure and mention that the next time we do a beginners video. Sorry for the late reply but I would see about finding issues of Xmen red or Blue or maybe even black and jumping on to see if you like them. As far as Trades go you can find lists of everything released the last couple of years and go from there. The main issue with X-men is there are so many of them you kind of have to just pick one. We never really did get into any of the new ones.

Those were both really good batman volumes; rebirth 1 & 2. Absolute Superman Batman written by Loeb is beyond amazing over sized hard cover eye candy! Dark Victory introduced Dick Grayson and was also fairly good. Batman New 52 just go for the Absolute Court of Owls but skip the rest of it.

Hold up. I think there are hiccups in Scott Snyder’s run, but I wouldn’t say skip it. Also, I Am Suicide is terrible. The line that says that Bruce became Batman because he wanted to die is a complete betrayal of Batman’s character and the plot is needlessly complicated.

I was just reading Batman rebirth issues 1-6 or 7 and I got to a point at the end of the comic where they told me to visit Nightwing issue 5 to see part 2 of night of the monster men (something like that) and I just want to know if I really have to go to Nightwing issue 5 in order to understand what happens next in Batman Rebirth. Please help

IG mdccomicfacts no you really don't. If you want a sense of the whole universe and what's going on then try to read all of the bat family books including detective comics. But that's only if you want to know the other stories. If you want to stick to just Batman then you'll be fine reading Batman. All books will make reference to other stories from an earlier book or different book but isn't necessarily required. So far Batman doesn't have a moment that you absolutely have to go back and check other books. That's only to know more of the reference. Hope that helps.

Foppish Dandies Thank you so much, and yeah it definetly helped 👍 I just read past issue 7 and like you said, it makes perfect sense and they actually clear up what happened in the other comic in case you haven't read it so it really helped. Now I know why Nightwing and Gotham Girl were turned into monsters without having to read Nightwing, not that I don't want to read Nightwing, I just like to stick to one comic at a time 👍

Oh and which is better? vol 1 or vol 2? The problem is that vol 1 has literary qualities. It deals with a tragic hero and it asks some very deep questions about the nature of good and evil. Now vol 2 by the end of it you can see that it has a love story and also somewhat of a mystery that is not revealed until the end. It leaves the reader with confidence in the writer, but vol 1 is better.
