Last week a family member tripped and popped his hip.... usually we would just say its " pain" and where its located/ how it happened....use " over counter" available.. ( Just the surface of the " modern" topic) This time I used more " thought/logic/instinct" I asked more QUESTIONS... Was it "nerve pain" or "muscle skeletal" for example. Remembered we have comfrey its been in our yard for years, but never used it! Had to use painters tape to affix saran wrap to hip...but hey..it WORKED! LOL! Was I convinced it would work? At the time, no....but after....yes! Our yard has new meaning! Lol

I work as a valet in the evenings. The other day I stepped in a puddle of water and by the time I got home to get my wet shoe off I had blisters on the bottom of all the toes on my left foot. They burned all night and the next day. I could barely walk. I remembered one (or both) of you talking about the healing properties of calendula so after I got off work at my day job the next day, I swug by the health food store to grab some calendula cream. I slapped some on my toes and bandage them up and headed off to a huge event. I hobbled in and claimed running drive (greeting and ticketing) so i didn’t have to run. Things got super busy and I ended up having to run. My toes were not hurting and they were completely healed the next day. Yes, I have planted calendula flowers but they haven't sprouted yet.

Thank you so much for these videos! I was bitten by a spider and swelled and was very sore. I went outside and picked Plantain from my yard, chopped it up fine, added organic cayenne pepper, a dash a distilled water and put it on my arm with a bandage. Wonderfully watched the swelling and redness go down throughout the day and it was healed completely by the end of the day. I applied it two times. A couple of days my granddaughter was bit by a mosquito on her cheek, it swelled and even a bit of darkness under her eye. I chopped Plantain with filtered water and put it on her cheek. As the Plantain was falling off, the redness, darkness and swelling was got. Only left was a dot of where the initial bite was. So excited and confident that there are so many healing properties in my yard!!!

I love your show and Have learned so much from the both of you. This may not pertain to this show but when I see all of your beautiful canned jars of the food and bounty from your farm, one minute after I’m sitting there admiring it, I am thinking about what if you had an earthquake. You may not live in earthquake country as I do but if I were you, just in case because we are having these unusual storm patterns everywhere, I would put some kind of a barrier in front and around all of your shelves to prevent an earthquake destroying all of your hard work when it all falls to the ground and breaks. That would be disastrous. That happened to me in San Francisco during one of our earthquakes. Now there seems to be quakes happening all over the country in unusual places. I am in the process of bolting my high and heavy furniture to the walls putting museum putty under my glass collectibles taking down all of my heavy glass bowls and dishes and storing them for a bit in a box closer to the floor. I’m putting dowels across the front of all my cabinets containing breakables or anything I wouldn’t want thrown all over the floor after an earthquake. I wish you the best. And thank you for all of your efforts and sharing your knowledge with us!

I was always afraid to use herbs because I heard too many people tell me the side affects can be scary. Not sure where they got that from. 🤔 The past few years I’ve researched and found that herbal remedies aren’t the scary witch craft that so many people told me. And truthfully I don’t like the over the counter stuff…talk about scary side affects! My 5 year old son has type 1 diabetes (insulin dependant) and I’ve been hesitant to try any kind of home remedy with him. It’s been 2.5 years since he was diagnosed and I’m still learning about diabetes but I’m seeing most herbs are safe for him. Thank you for explaining things so clearly and encouraging people to just start! I planted calendula this year for the first time. What an amazing plant!!

@@HomeGrownHerbalist Hi Doc, I am a big fan and student already, just not in the school officinalis yet :) . I have all your books, bought all your seeds you offer, bought several of your medicinal herb kits and formula mixes and even started reading the ingredients on products. :) Here's a funny educational influence to share thanks to you... took my acquired dog to the vet this past week, ears with bacteria. He gave me a product to use weekly called phnotix. First ingredient listed, Calendula, including several other naturals. He had a lump on his back, sample said cyst with angry white cells. Looks at me and says out of all the options we discussed the one you are doing using bentonite clay and all those other herbs you said seems to be working just fine to bring it to a head, so keep using those and when it ruptures call me if you need any antibiotics. But something tells me you won't need to do that. Then onto the last issue, hotspot on his paw. Doc looks it over then said looks like the jewel weed salve you've been putting on it did the trick, nothing to do there. The hair is starting to grow back already. Assistant looks at me and says can I get that Jewel weed salve recipe? Anyway, thank you (both) again for all that you are doing to help others achieve a greater level of self sufficiency and ability. The skills can never be enough and are always on call. Kind regards for now.

How to grow and forage for them, how to make teas, tinctures, skin balms and oils, etc. But there is little to any info of when to use them and for when to use them and for how long, as well as dosages. If using for medicine, I would think they would not need to be used as a supplement or preventative? but as a treatment for the time that you are sick or injured? just as we would do with conventional medicine?

I'm interested in your herd garden annual maintenance. Which plants do you have to pay attention to seed save and replant each year? Which ones are perrenials or self seeding? Do you let them self seed or try to avoid that to control the placement and design? I am a messy seed saver that leaves seeds on towels to dry with a tape label for several months before I get around to storing them after the drying process is long over. My maintenance dose of ibuprofen is because radiation treatments destroyed some of the cartilage in my back, and sometimes my ribs and shoulder bones will slip out of place. I can usually move them back where they need to be, IF the muscles around them don't immediately inflame and hold them out of place. I will read about it first, but I can't imagine that a maintenance dose of turmeric, ginger, cayenne and cinnamon would have side effects as concerning as ibuprofen. In fact, I would think that it instead would have a beneficial effect on my overall health.

Because for other ailments like cancer, I will not bother using herbs especially if its life threatening... I actaully use both herbal medicine and conventional medicine, but the state of my country some people are too eager in using them and ending up not using them properly which led to their downfall.
@Romans828girl2 жыл бұрын
Even when it's something like cancer, it's possible that there are herbals that will help. I'm not talking about skipping conventional treatment and relying on herbs to cure cancer; I mean that there are herbs that can help you avoid some of the side effects of radiation and chemotherapy. I am a cancer survivor; I had radiation treatments, then a year later, went out of remission and had chemotherapy. My cancer is gone, but the cure almost killed me, and now, 30 years later, I am still dealing with damage to my body. I recently read something about some herbs that can be taken during chemo, that will almost completely eliminate the nausea it causes. Wow! That would have been handy to have.
