I just played my first city on Veteran difficulty last night when I tackled a silver seal and discovered that I HAD to play it on Veteran! But I stayed calm and focused on the core strategies you've taught us and I not only succeeded, but did so with plenty of Queen's impatience to spare and only losing a few villagers when hostility became tougher to manage near the end. Thanks again for all your content, I'm loving it!

Against the storm is such a weird game. I thought it was more of a city builder but it's really a resource manager.... I never thought managing resources would be so fun!
@bellidrael74574 ай бұрын
I don't really get how it's resource management, it seems more like RNG. Every time I try Viceroy difficulty, I have food, I have supplies, but the only thing I can't deal with is that the storm modifier goes up by 4 every single storm. It's impossible to keep up with the happiness of people because by the fifth storm I still don't have any buildings or production I need to start doing orders, yet the storm is at a -20 resolve.

You have helped me a ton. Im currently on my 5 game in Viceroy. Looking forward to watching this series. I like to make sure i beat difficulties someone consistently before going up. After watching this series with you i play to up the difficulty. Thanks so much for the help and videos.

I used to underestimate stone, now i always pick it, so handy to break open crates or salvage goods that you really need, OR solve dangerous and even some forbidden glades! 10/10

Nice! Just made the jump from Veteran to Viceroy / early Prestige. The biggest thing is definitely the hostility. On easier difficulties, the storm isn't much of a consideration.

Veteran is definitely when it starts becoming fun (heck, it's the when I first lost a game), and Viceroy is when it starts becoming the classic "roguelike" difficulty.
@Shywer6 ай бұрын
Jeah i farmed alot of Easy and pioneer to unlock stuff but at some point the game gets too easy because of those and you naturally want more ^^
@lazylonewolf6 ай бұрын
@@Shywer Hopefully you're trying out the higher difficulties so it's more fun, but hey whatever floats your boat. I myself don't see myself going for the higher Prestige difficulties.

Looking forward to the viceroy difficulty episodes. I tried my first one yesterday at lvl 15 and failed miserably! The hostility was simply way too high
@bellidrael74574 ай бұрын
I feel like I spend 90% of my time just trying to keep happiness above the threshold so people don't leave, and I never actually get any chance to pursue the orders. By time I'm actually even starting to get any done, the storm comes around and everyone is at like -12 and even mass burning fuel won't stop them from leaving, and that's just the base modifier from the storm. I literally cannot keep people happy enough, it's just not possible.

I don't know if you play Viceroy or lower difficulties. I personally chilled out on the lowest difficulty for like 10 games or so until I learned the basics. So it's definitely worth spending time in the lowest tiers as this game has just completely different rules compared to most games I've played.

A guide I read somewhere said that gathering camps should be placed with their arrow pointing at the resource they gather. You seem to do the opposite and point the arrow at the road/warehouse. Any thoughts?
@Ic0nGaming2 ай бұрын
I can only say that this is a very overrated topic. Technically it is correct to point it towards the resource as the workers drop off their stuff at the door. I can only say that I never did pay too much attention to the facing of my doors and made it safely past Prestige 15 with that. There is a miniscule advantage logistics-wise, but you almost don't notice it tbh.

Did you make this game, code design or something else?

Im sure you talk of this on your stream, but do you ever select the species specific housing?
@Ic0nGaming11 ай бұрын
I try to avoid drafting it until my economy is complete and all. I rely on unlocking them via the Citadel upgrades ultimately. But if you haven't, it is always a good thing to draft them for a majority species once your economy works

I havent played this for 6 months, so my perspective could be a bit outdated. But i usually stop wood chopping during storms and focus more on buiding. Also, merchant is very useful ;)

Can you explain your reasoning behind building rotation choice, you seem to always point them away from the resources they are gathering, it seems odd to me
@Ic0nGaming11 ай бұрын
I always try to find the middle ground between resource nodes and Warehouse basically. Cause your workers will not only travel back and forth from the resource node. It might very well be the case that facing them towards the resource node is all in all more time efficient. But I don't think it's a really big number. Just in case you are wondering: Later game storage is much larger than at the beginning of the game, so they need to haul larger batches when you have more upgrades. I cannot really say which method is the most efficient though, could use some proper science and numbers behind that ^^

Not sure if I missed it but do you have any opinions on worker for the hearth keeper job?
@Ic0nGaming11 ай бұрын
Lizard is my personal favorite if I don't have any other pressing matters. I like the humans later on for higher difficulties cause Queen's Impatience is really some issue as well!
@ghostofamoment11 ай бұрын
Think of it like a situational buff - if you're about to run out of fuel, try a beaver on the hearth. need a little more resolve, try lizard. need a little less hostility before the storm, try fox. etc etc. Agreed with Ic0n too, lizards are my favorite as well
@StarpunkPrime7 ай бұрын
Why do you place your building arrows away from the resources? The arrows should point towards the resource you're gathering.

Not sure about third hearth, i won my first viceroy game without big troubles on two, i more like to use two more flames for trading🤔
@ink24679 ай бұрын
"there's nothing I could do differently" i like to make trading post before 1st Storm, summon the trader, sell him some trash and a couple of parts - and collect the Order and more people

Nice video
@Ic0nGaming9 ай бұрын
I rarely sell parts but you are right. On Viceroy you got parts to spend. Higher difficulty increased building prices make the budgets really tight. Good attention!
