here's my way to learn fashion (the artistic side): 1 - Basics: you want to have an idea of the eras so that you can identify the references, inspirations, and history behind garments, so learn some very basic fashion history and see what they wore in the different eras (example: 1970's hippie movement, 1960's the mini skirt, 1990's, grunge, 1980's full glam). Just remember to keep it simple, you just want an intro. 2 - European fashion: Everyone used to do what European designers said it had to be done, so they're gonna be your starting point, especially French and Italian. For french designers, you have, Dior, Chanel, YSL, Pierre Balmain, Hubert de Givenchy, and Pierre Cardin. and italian, Schiaparelli, Ferragamo, Gucci, Emilio Pucci, Armani, Valentino and Capucci. Also designers like Balenciaga, Paco Rabanne (Karl cause why not?) 3 - American fashion - After 1973 American fashion grew a lot, and I personally really like American designers. Some designers to start with are Oscar de la Renta, Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren, Carolina Herrera, Halston (watching the Netflix show doesn't count at all lmao), and Stephen Burrows. 4 - Moving Forward: Now you can start researching your favorite brands and designers (Galiano, McQueen, Versace, Miuccia Prada, Vivienne Westwood, Tom Ford, etc). Creative directors get their inspiration from the old archives of the house and it's really interesting to see how they modernize the designs and how they reference them. 5 - Smaller picture: Check collections from smaller designers. people who are less known tend to get their ideas stolen from big brands (example: converse) and they deserve credit for their creations :D so make sure to support them (especially black designers) that's pretty much it, you never really finish learning anyway, but this order helped me a lot lol, pluuus I watched almost all of bliss's videos, and also Mina Le is great at commentary and analysis, and MacDoesIt reviews red carpets and stuff, he's not a fashion channel, but he's funny, so when u have no motivation, at least u can laugh at ppl's outfits with him. oh and Karolina Zebrowska's channel is great to learn about fashion history

I love the point you made about cheap, fast-fashion clothing signifying the exploit of workers, it's something that needs to keep on being talked about. However, and very sadly, brands that sell expensive clothing don't always not exploit their workers (sorry, I don't know if that made sense). Just because a garment is expensive doesn't mean the people who made it were rightfully treated and paid. It's important to always research the brands we purchase from, no matter what their price point is. That doesn't take away from how good the video though, great work as always!!

THANK YOU THANK YOUUU! I’ve always had a love for clothes but I guess you can say in the past year I’ve just recently entered the fashion scene. Coming from an art background, I have always been so fascinated with the back story and analysis of each body of work, I think that’s what got me into fashion. With that being said I’m still confused of how to go about things (personal style, trends, what NOT to do) and I’m scared to Express myself to other people in the world of fashion in fear that I may be judged for not knowing as much as they do. Thank you for making this confusion a little more clear for me. I’m a pretty anxious person so having this video as a reference definitely helped me a lot. I’ve got a lot of homework to get done, LMFAOO I’m excited :)

I have a problem with overconsumption of secondhand items, I'm trying to get better because I have pretty bad hoarder tendencies (yikes) and I'm trying to separate my love for fashion and my consumer self. It's really hard but I'm slowly getting better at it. I used to get super upset when a secondhand item I've been eyeing got sold, now I get a bit sad and move on because the important thing is that someone gets to wear and love the item anyway, whether it's me or another person doesn't matter :)
