I am in the UK, and am exploring creativity in my bible study... I do want to do more than take notes but I want to use all kinds of things to encourage my walk in joy. In bible college I did it a teeny but as our Dean of students was creative.... But back in the ordinary life I didn't follow it up... Now I have gathered all sorts of things to use as I go through my different bibles... I want a she reads truth bible, illustrating bible, and I will use my ol faithful $13 bible from the book store in 2003.. It's falling apart and pretty marked up, but I might use it in bits in my journal... Not sure yet.... But I know at the age of 65 I feel like a kid again !!! No more grown up but a child of The King doing her unique thing before her God and Father!

@judith that is so sad to hear. It's heartbreaking but I have heard hundreds of sisters and brothers like you that have said they have been in the word for years but cannot connect with it watching my videos have given them a whole new way of looking at their Bible and best of all a new and exciting way to seek the Lord out. Thank you so much for watching and most of all sharing your story here. I know that can't be easy thing to do. But I hope others will read this and understand you can step out and try something new & different if you find out later it's not for you well you tried instead of just (settling in a dull and stale relationship) I think if you were really reading your bible for years than you would know your main purpose of reading the bibles is not to check it off a list ✔ but to live it out. Soooo if you're finding that your bible study time is dull when than your relationship with God is dull too. I'm sorry to say but I don't believe that's how God planned your relationship. Noooooo He wants His children to be on Fire for Him and excited so excited that the whole world and so they are a child of God. Just my opinion ✍📖💜✝️💜

When I said that I had been deprived of any expression of Faith, I meant that Gods Word was "withheld" from me as a Bible was not allowed in the house. Due to "oppression" I have not been able to read the Bible for 50 years, but I changed that this year and am now working through it from cover to cover and Bible journaling as well, which is taking me deeper into it.

Tracing paper is a great cheaper price substitute for vellum! You can draw, write, even watercolor on it. It holds up well, gets that nice crinkle sound without curling up. Thanks for sharing your tips! They are so beautiful!

I grew up being told that it’s a sin to mark up in my Bible (which is a total lie and there’s really nothing in the Bible that says we can’t highlight and journal about what God is teaching us). I knew that whoever was telling me this was just incorrect because I saw many pastors and even my own pastor with some notes and highlights in their Bible, so it reassured me that it was okay. I love studying my Bible and marking it up because I can easily find passages that I’m thinking about and I just feel good flipping through my marked up Bible to see all the lessons I’ve learned over the years. It’s also amazing to read over my old prayers and see how they were answered. I’ve been wanting to start a Bible garden since I discovered your channel but I didn’t really know how to do it. Thank you so much Cat for giving me all these ideas and inspiration!! I can’t wait to see the following videos in this series ❤️

Rebecca Ly my husband feels the same way about writing in the Bible. But, I told him my Bible is My Sword and I need to be able to pull it out at any time to use. My sword is My sword! Each soldiers sword is decorated differently and personalized. I love this idea.

We're so glad you discovered this at an early age like me I'm 69 now and when I got my first King James Bible I started stenciling little hearts in it when God said something really special to me and it's it's such a blessing and I didn't care what other people thought I underlined all over the place in my King James Bible and if they saw its for what and that's before I ever heard of Bible journaling which is something people just started in this last maybe 10 years and if I'd thought of it I would have back then

I just started mine in a compact bible, using highlights, washie tape and stickers to highlight verses that I often reference or want to find quickly. I've only done Paul's epistles so far but I'm loving it. I went and got some fine point pens and highlighters in Walmart back to school section. I will be looking for some see thru stickers and decided it wont matter if I cover some words because this is going to be my quick reference bible. Its the one that I've always carried in my purse. I am really looking forward to this series!!!!

You are so right how your Bible can sum of your thoughts at different times in your life. I have had so much family loss in 9 years. The hardest being the unexpected loss of my oldest Son. I am here to say if not for God's mercy, I would be gone on all levels. I still have one set of footprints in my sand, and they aren't mine. My youngest Child got me into coloring, which saved my sanity. I was so happy to discover harvesting a Bible Garden. I know God has kept me here to help other Mother's that have lost a child. Some are angry with God, some can't think (been there) and others are allowing God to carry them. I have never been angry. I realized it was because of my faith. Anyway, I want you to know that your videos are a Blessing to me. God Bless You in all you do!

In November 2016, I was at a deep, dark depressive place. I was going to ponder my New Year Resolutions but I thought, “Why? You break them before the end of the month!” God gave me a notion...theme your year. My first year was “Create in me a clean heart and renew a right spirit within me.” It was fantastic. I kept a planner journal. 2018 was “Be Still and Know that I am God.” 2019 was “Be ye Doers of the Word, and not hearers only.” 2020 is “Seek Him while he may be found.” I think I will start a “Create in Me” Bible Garden first just to strengthen me. Actually, I’ll start one for each year and when I’m needing to revisit that particular season. This makes me so happy and encouraged.

That's prefect sister I love it... And best of all you understand the whole point of the Bible Garden. It's really personal and a beautiful thing when you get to go back through your past years bibles and see just how much you have grown and BL🌺🌺M. I know so many people get discouraged on their Spiritual Walk, they have been in the Word of years follow just as their mother & fathers have before them went to church every Sunday. But still lack their own confidence they are still unsure if their (DOING IT ALL RIGHT!?) they may keep a prayers journal or two but can you imagine if those prayers and answers were in their bibles right next to the scriptures they were reading for that day. It's amazing I don't know what else I can say. I'm so very grateful for this chance to share my thoughts and I am very thankful that you also shared your insights too this is what my ministry is all about helping inspiring each other to grow & Bl🌺🌺m stronger together. What a wonderful concept! To actually see yourself GROW in the Word. I also loved when you said “When you can’t track your spiritual growth, you don’t become confident in your spiritual walk”. That is very powerful to me. I spent 12 year’s studying the Bible through Precept Upon Precept, Kay Arthur’s studies. I would spend hours each night doing my study for the day. As I look back at my Bible there are a lot of notes about the Scripture, but nothing about how I felt about it. It really like a seminary class, very detailed. I did learn a lot about the Bible, but not myself; and did not form a bond with God as I want to. I am going to give this a try along with the Fervent study. You have given me so much inspiration to get back into the Word of God. Thank you, I believe you are an angel in disguise, and a true blessing to all of us to find our true and real bond with God!

Sister Cat, even though I have been a Christian for a long time and study a lot, i love this idea❤️ I too love to be creative. And this will be a fun project! I plan on drawing some simple sticker and printing some out, they have some beautiful ones I found on Pinterest, also they have lots a scripture and quotes. I have a personal size bible I hardly use , this will give it some new life! And for me too! Just a tip, if anyone is interested, I really like the app ‘print to size” I can print any image in any size on any kind of paper. I have been using the images in my Journals for a long time! That's why you do your decorating for the end of your study. Too many people get it backwards want a pretty Bible and enjoy the Creative process of it but when it comes to daily watering and pulling the weeds of the garden they refuse to do it. So you will end up seeing a overgrown garden in their own personal lives. Because they never took the time to actually plant the seeds properly and deep in their heart & soul than to come back in ready to work & meditate while you are waiting for your Bible Garden to full grow & bloom as God intended it to be you. Pray over everything you do in your Bible sis He will always lead you to what's BEST FOR YOU!!! ✍📖💕📚

@@catwoods5499I love this concept that you shared here. I’ve been interested in Bible journaling for years, but it felt so high pressure - what if I regretted my art decisions? I never did start, but I bought an interleaved Bible so I can write my study notes and a small daily planner so I can write quick summaries as I go through my Bible in a Year reading plan and podcast. I’ve also been watching the Prayer Bible series that’s been trending this past week on Sisterita’s channel, and now I want to add that to the mix! The Growth Co. journal has also been on my wish list to use in a similar way to what you shared here, except that it doesn’t have the actual Bible included. That seems more low pressure than decorating in my Bible, but blank pages are also intimidating! The interleaved Bible is a nice compromise because each page of Biblical text is next to a blank page for notes - I just had to tell myself that those pages are for me to grow closer to God through his word and NOT for perfectionism. If I feel perfectionism creeping in, I know that is not if God, just like you mentioned in your video.

Hi Cat! Thank you for this Garden Bible series! Because of my OCD & minimalist tendencies, I can’t bring myself to mark my Bible even with pencil & I don’t want a huge journaling Bible as I prefer the small or personal size Bible which is the only one I have for reading, Church, praying, everything. I’m so glad to have come across your channel because you showed me that I can Bible Journal using a small Bible but I use watercolor paper or decorative card stock to journal in and I don’t permanently glue them in because I don’t have the heart to buy another small Bible & set this one aside. So when this Bible gets full, I’ll pull out all the journaling cards and bind it into a book, stick them in a photo album or tie it with a nice ribbon with the year(s) label on it for archiving.

Heh, that's a great idea! I also struggle writing in my Bible but I've been using post it notes and those tabs with clear bottoms to write notes (but you can still see the text below) I am not sure about stickers, but I do believe to each their own and I also believe that the LORD calls each person differently. I am a fan of a companion spiritual journal in which I can write anything, draw and or decorate as inspired by my reading of the Bible. Plus, I don't want to spend money on bibles when I have so many other journals that can be filed away nicely after use. I would not give my Bible Garden to anyone, except my husband, if I pass away, but I STILL LOVE THIS CONCEPT. I am going to think about how I can make a garden from my Bible Study efforts without sacrificing the Bible. I MAY get a companion Bible from a second hand book store and blow it up (as Cat says). Not sure. Lots of fun ahead though, as well as blessings, I'm sure. God bless you and Cat in your journeys. c

That's exactly what I recommend doing sister and a journaling Bibles are great too they are designed to be colored on they have margins so you're not covering up the words you can really grow your own Bible Garden as you see it. I always stress DON'T WORRY ABOUT WHAT'S IN MY OWN BIBLE THIS IS MY OWN WALK WITH THE LORD. THIS WORKS FOR ME 🙋‍♀️ YOU NEED TO FIND OUT YOUR OWN PERSONAL JOURNLING STYLE AND WHAT WORKS BEST FOR YOU. Plus that's put of the fun right!? I would never suggest growing your Bible Garden in your EDC (Every Day Carry) or your Daily Driver the main bible you read from. Because what would end up happening is your garden will over power the word of God. You know purpose of you going to your bible is to read from it and the Garden will end up distracting you that's why I recommend a different Bible so you can separate the two. Let's say your reading from your main one and a verse really spoke to you and you want to remember it. Well than this is when you will pull out your other bible and just allow the Holy Spirit to move you freely don't put any limitations on yourself during this time because I believe you will never truly grow & Bl🌺🌺m if you find that your struggling with it pray and ask the Lord to give you a peace about it and move on from there. Never stop yourself because it's something new. Take to the Lord and let him guide you 🧎‍♀️🙏✝️

I’m so glad that you mentioned that each garden can be different . I always struggled with whether I needed to transfer notes and art from one to the new bible. But when I would go back, often times I wouldn’t because it was relevant to a season I was going through then and now something else was more relevant. Cat I love rewatching this video. I start a new journaling bible each year and in it is where I track my spiritual growth, add notes and prayers, and I add post it page markers with a keyword that helps me know what it means for scripture I want to be able to refer back to. Love what you said about tracking our spiritual walk. If we just come to the Bible as any other book we will get zero out of it. We need to build our lives on it, let it convict us, and correct us. I really enjoyed this video. I don’t consider myself a very creative person, but I like to highlight and write notes in my Bible. I always worry that I’m making my Bible look messy. This video gave me a boost of confidence to make my Bible my own.❤️

Love this idea and I only have one big journaling Bible I'm getting back into it after a time ty for the tips on smaller Bibles I may have to see in my collection if I can use a small one tyfs 💜

I’m so glad you did this vlog. I was just looking yesterday for a video on this. I bought postitnotes. My town has MayMay Made It. She has a great youtube channel. She sells stuff like this. We do have Hobby Lobby in addition to Michaels. I love to recycle cards people gave me. I make book markers and stickers out of them.

I’m glad you said that! We spend more time shopping for shoes, watching trash TV and other nonsense than we do reading Gods word. And you can’t do that spending 5,10,15mins with him. It’s like any other relationship you have to spend time and cultivate it. Thank you for making that a point.

One thing that I do when I do my bible journaling is to write the date and time. I know people write the dates, but I don't know how many people write the time. I enjoy your videos.

I bought the inspire NLT Catholic Bible because I wanted a easy to read translation. I am very happy with it and plan on using it for many years to come. I do use my son's Catholic youth Bible for commentary when needed. I make tip ins for notes and I color code in the pages. I chose not to do stickers or art work in it but, I made a journling notebook using a three ring binder and a few different size journals to use stickers and artwork in. And a smaller one for note taking and thoughts and such. So I have it all in one place. It is working for me well. Love your thoughts and inspiration. it's so interesting to see how we all have our own style in how we journal. I love how you have such a creative and organized style for yours. 🥰
