I've been Tech Leader, Software Architect and Software Engineer; I don't want to develop software anymore and I'm moving (trying to 😅) to management/leadership positions, i got PSM and PSPO certifications but I'm not lucky yet getting a job. Thanks for your advice here, I'm checking again my strategy ☺️

Love your videos! I’ve got experience in PM but haven’t been able to land an offer. I’ve been looking for about 6+ months now with various interviews. I’ve got most of the vocabulary and terminology associated with PM and the project lifecycle along with the management skills, what could I be doing wrong in these interviews?

Thank you Adriana for your outpouring information on this. I’m thinking of changing my career to Project manager however I do not have any certification. Is it necessary to have it before looking for entry level project coordinator or assistant jobs?
@AdrianaGirdler21 күн бұрын
Any certification or education is going to be helpful to get your foot in the door. Then you need to use that practical experience to move up to your goal of being a project manager. Check out my online course Slay Project Management. I thing it would be beneficial for you. Here is the link to check it out adrianagirdler.thinkific.com/courses/slaypm

Thank you for all your useful info and encouragement! I’ve just started as the (only) Project Coordinator for a young, too-fast growing business and it’s already very clear there is very little actual planning and structure to any of the existing projects. Being new to this role and industry it’s rather daunting as I already feel responsible to try and pull this out of the gutter before it all crashes, but don’t have a huge amount of authority. Do you have any advice on coordinating and organising projects where the Project Manager isn’t the best at communicating and planning delivery? The business has a huge backlog of potential/existing customers and the overall aim is to make a good public impression as the business rapidly grows. As far as I know there aren’t any project charters or clear project plans and my to-do list is already miles-long, mainly playing urgent catch-up whilst battling with a very disorganised database. I really want to succeed in Project Coordination and Management and this role is my first entry into this area. Please help! Any advice is greatly appreciated 🙏🏻

@@AdrianaGirdler Thanks for replying! Unfortunately it’s suddenly looking like things are already crashing from higher up financially, so on this occasion I think my best option is probably to get out and find another (hopefully less risky) route into project work. At least this gives me some more time to research and learn more about the roles! Thanks for the advice and link, I’ll definitely check it out :)

Thank you! I am a teacher looking to transition into project management. Earned my CAPM and CSM to better prepare for the transition. I definitely use project management skills regularly as a teacher and tried to clearly translate that on my resume. I feel like teaching in many ways is project management at its core, but I'm not having any luck with the jobs I've been applying for. Even the alleged entry-level positions seem to require some kind of experience in "official" project management roles. I've heard about most organizations using AI applicant screening systems and wonder if maybe I'm getting automatically sent to the trash since I don't have "official" PM experience. Do you have any suggestions for how to improve my odds of getting a human to review my resume?
@AdrianaGirdler Жыл бұрын
Hi @QueenBteach. Amazing to hear that you have earned you CAPM and CSM. I agree that teaching is very much like project management and I think you will find the transition to be fairly easy. As far as getting your resume reviewed by a human I would suggest that your reach out to an HR professional for some advice. I wish you great success and would love to hear when you land your first project manager position! Cheers.

Hi Queen, can I ask what route you took or materials used to get ready for CAPm exams, I am struggling to self study.
@MB-xv7er8 ай бұрын
That’s because being a PM is SO much more than what you are describing
@QueenBteach8 ай бұрын
I never assumed that this is all there is to being a PM. My question was more about how to bypass AI applicant screening systems, which I believe are making it more challenging for people who are trying to transition careers to have their qualifications even seen by a live human. @@MB-xv7er

Can I work completely remotely as a project manager?

Yes you can BUT recognize there are pros/cons with such an arrangement. You also have to think a bit differently and have to work harder to bond the team. Cheers!

In this day and age it’s not gonna happen lol being a Pm isn’t something companies just aimlessly allow people to get into and that’s very valid.

I agree, but there is many avenues that can get you the experience you need and can allow you to work up to that position. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. Cheers!
