Here’s a protip: after brushing the grill, grab a rag dipped in olive / vegetable oil with the tongs and wipe the grill grates. It will clean the soot off and keep anything from sticking.

I stopped using metal bristled grill brushes over 10 years ago when I accidentally swallowed a metal bristle while eating my steak! Since then, I have never let a metal bristled bbq brush near my bbq!

Here’s a tip… get rid of that metal brush, it can leave behind metal shavings on the grill that can get stuck on your meats and then gets stuck to your intestines!!

Sure, if you use an old janky metal brush. I wouldn't recommend using one of those. If you keep your brush in good condition, it's not gonna fall apart and leave bristles on your grill.

@@fullvaluetv you're absolutely correct, took me a few tries to locate one locally, BUT I'm so glad I did. I will say, when you start your charcoal, in a chimney, let it get fully lit and ashed over on your top coals. Otherwise you get a smokey flavour to your food, that isn't the good type of smokey flavour.

Cleaning the grill grate prior to emptying the old ash is my go-to. Lighting up exactly like you perfectly explained. Then placing the freshly oiled grate over the "hot" coals. Some people use PAM I've found there are times when there's stubborn stuck on food from last bbq on the grate. Didn't you just hate that? IT'S no fun scrubbing over hot coals. Especially when your peeps are hangry😂 🤔IPerhaps I'm the only one that oils her grill🤔

Here’s a tip: get a charcoal chimney fire starter, super easy and you don’t need lighter fluid. Also, if you are going to use lighter fluid (not recommended), then make sure your coals are completely gray before starting your cook to ensure the lighter fluid is burned off. I used lighter fluid once, was impatient and only waited until my coals were mostly gray, and then my chicken came out tasting like the lighter fluid :(

I used to do it this way until I was taught the cleanest way. All natural lump wood charcoal and a tumbleweed fire starter underneath a chimney. Briquettes have chemicals in them plus the lighter fluid is not good for your health especially for someone who grills often like myself. Even if you wait till the briquettes are solid white and everything “burned off” it’s still getting into your meats even if no off flavor. (The white color isn’t from ash it’s from grinded lime stone, not good look it up) Not judging anyone hey do what you do just saying if you grill often and want to make sure your food is chemical free, natural is the way to go.

How long do you wait to start adding the meat on the grill?
@fullvaluetv
@fullvaluetv Жыл бұрын
I usually wait about 5 minutes so that the grill gets nice and hot that'll help prevent sticking. If you feel comfortable doing it - you can use a rag and put some olive oil on it and wipe that on the grill with tongs holding the rag, to prevent sticking as well.

how do you clean one of these bad boys out? i pulled a sunbeam portable (little green round-ish) out of the attic that hasn't been used in years, I clean off the thin chrome grate things, scraped the inside with a scraper, but should I use easy-off and thoroughly clean the inside with water and stuff or can I proceed to use it with the inner griller just scraped and emptied out, or do I need to go to town on the inside cleaning with a scrubber and water and easy-off chemicals? It's so friggin messy the black crap gets all over my hands and everywhere, Am I good to go? Hate to think this crap gets all over the food and into our bodies.

I usually use a sponge with a nonstick approved scrubby pads so that doesn't scratch the finish and some dish soap, preferably Dawn. And then I rinse it out real good with the hose afterwards and make sure it's in the sun so it gets nice and warm and dries out.

There's also the argument to be had that if you ash over the charcoal properly and don't use too much lighter fluid, you don't taste it at all. 🤷‍♂️

I’ve been cooking on a charcoal grill for years using lighter fluid it does not change the flavor of food lol

Agreed. As long as you use decent fuel, don't use an insane amount and let it burn off, you're all good IMHO.

That's lighter fluid. I have other videos using different methods to start the fires.

So what I need is a grill, charcoal and what do you call that liquid in English, you put on the charcoal at the beginning?

Will your food taste like lighter fluid after cooking?

Not unless you use a half bottle of the stuff. Let it burn off and you are good to go. Ultimately a better way is using a charcoal chimney, and I have another how to video showing that option.

i must be a damn failure cause i follow these exact same steps and the flame just dies and the charcoal never gets gray

Don't be hard on yourself. I have another video where I use a charcoal chimney to start it, maybe that'll work better for you. kzbin.infoxGoUK09fcaM?feature=share
