Excellent info. Great way to ease into Thailand too if you're retired...learn the language AND meet people.

Wow great video. I've been watching a lot of videos on Thailand as I get ready to "move" there in a couple of months and 2 of your videos have really helped me. Very informative. As someone who wants to learn the language and is also struggling to wrap my head around tourist visas, this might be a great option for me. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for the feedback! It can be really overwhelming with so much info out there so I'm glad you found the video helpful! Hope you're able to get all your plans sorted before your move :)

How are you getting the funds to make the move to Thailand? This is what has been holding me back for the past 4 years.

@@ShanaJahsintaWalters I'm very lucky to be retiring. I did notice though that Kat has a video on her channel about being a VA (Virtual Assistant) which is a neat job that's completely remote. Check out the video, it's worth a look! I think if you can be creative with remote work it is much easier to do.

Thank you for the breakdown. It looks a little bit more than the language schools but still seems doable finance wise.

No problem! I've heard some of the private language schools end up being more expensive when you include their visa fees but I think the prices all can vary :)

Great videos, Ive watched a few. Chiang Mai is a great place, such a different vibe but I love it. Spending 2 months there in the winter is the best. I will be extending my time there very soon. Thanks for the info.

Thanks so much! Mine was a criminal background check from my local police department. I had to pick this up in person and scan the original document but you can check with the school directly to confirm exactly what they need :)

Hi Kat...just found your channel and subscribed. How many years can you take advantage of the education visa? Is there a max like 5 years?
@katherinenic

This info I'm still trying to figure out because I've heard different things from different visa agencies. My current agency told me you can do 3 years of one-type of education visa (for example thai language) and after you can switch to let's say a muy-thai visa for an additional 3 years. I will be renewing in November so I can update then but I would def speak to an agent directly because immigration rules change pretty often here 😅 This is the visa agency I'm currently using: Vera Visa g.co/kgs/7KyPmpL

Hello, Great Info. One question, if I may. Are there any financial requirements to qualify for the ED Visa? I ultimately will go for the retirement visa, which I can meet all the requirements, but I want to learn Thai, so ED Visa would be a good option for a year or two
@katherinenic
@katherinenic 2 ай бұрын
No there are no financial requirements for the education visa because technically you are a "student" here. They just released the new Destination Thailand Visa that might be another option to look into!

You originally said you have lived in Thailand for 5 years, so have you been on an education visa for that time or have you had to leave the country and come back every three months?
@katherinenic

@@MrPassion4truth first 2 years I was on a work visa, the last 3 years have been on education visas. Each visa I’ve had has been for 1-year and I haven’t had to leave the country.

This is still considered a language school, it’s just at the public university and not through a private company.

I work online remotely doing project management/operations so it allows me to work from anywhere. I started as a virtual assistant though and could be something to look into if you’re interested! I have another video about how I got started on my channel, if you wanted to check it out. I also did save up a bit before I made the move just to have some cushion :)
