Very good segment, Adam. More people need to consider never allowing themselves to be dragged into a violent confrontation...never do the monkey dance, There are always consequences. And ironically, the more one seriously trains martial arts, the less you feel the need to fight. But, given the times we live in, having that 'red button' in us to calmly dispatch someone who tries to harm us is the best insurance policy you can have! Keep up the good work.

Thanks again Adam. Staying out of the Monkey Dance is crucial and initially hard to train for so thanks for inspiring me to really work this into my practice.

So true. I fought a lot and the only fight I am proud of is the one when I avoided it by remaining calm. That dude came down to me to fight. I listened to him and I remained calm and relaxed. And he simply walked away.

WELL SAID SIFU ADAM!!! YOUR ATTITUDE IS EXEMPLARY AND ANYONE MARTIAL ARTIST SHOULD THINK THE SAME WAY LIKE U. AND...- U ARE ABSOLUTE RIGHT- JAIL IS ONE OF THE MOST BADDEST THING, WHICH CAN HAPPEN TO ANYONE! GUILTY OR NOT- THE JUDGE ARE ALSO ONLY HUMAN BEINGS AND " ANYONE DO MISTAKES". YOUR ATTITUDE ABOUT "FIGHTING AND WHY STUDY MARTIAL ARTS, SHOWS ME ,U AREN'T ONLY A MASTER OF THE WSL VING TSUN LINEAGE STYLE! I CAN'T IMAGINE MYSELF, HOW GREAT SIGUNG WONG SHUN LEUNG WAS!- I MEAN IT POSITIV!!! U ARE ALSO A MASTER OF OTHER THINGS LIKE ,4 INSTANT, HUMANITY! I LOVE YOUR VING TSUN, YOUR MOVEMENTS, EXPLAINATION, LOGIC AND YOUR VERY KINDLY AND INTELLIGENT "WAY OF THINKING". BY THE WAY, I'M A VIETNAMESE, WHO LIVES IN GERMANY. HERE IN GERMANY IS ALSO A STUDENT OF WSL. HIS NAME IS SIFU PHILIPP BAYER! FOR ME,- SIFU BAYER IS ONE OF THE GREATEST VING TSUN ARTIST! I'M SURE U KNOW HIM ALSO IF YOU NEVER MET HIM. I'M ALSO DON'T MET HIM! I ALSO STUDIED THE LINEAGE OF WSL/P. BAYER. BUT ONLY 4 A SHORT TIME! I WOULD CONTINUE TO STUDY FOR MYSELF BUT ONLY BY SIFU BAYER, SIFU ADAM😊 AND A FEW OTHER SIFU'S! GREETINGS FROM GERMANY, WISH U THE BEST, STAY HEALTHY AND KEEP ALWAYS ON YOUR VIDEO CLIPS!!! RESPECT SIFU ADAM ☯️🙏🏼✌🏼💚

Just wanna say that as much as I like your direct martial arts instruction videos, these more 'philosophical and integrating MA with life'-videos are fantastic.

I did a lot of full contact fighting in the 90s no protection before MMA gloves were a thing, and one HUGE thing that helped me stay in control was getting beat up so many times that getting hit just didn’t bother me any more.

Excellent advice. Though in reality, that level of relaxation in the midst of conflict & movement does take literal years of deep training. We can accelerate it a little bit by adding some Qigong before & after ones practice. It can become automatic over time.

This is why i meditate and stay aware of my enviromnent.. As peers..i got asked to kick some guys asses. I did Not. What i did do was make sure nobody could hurt anybody. Being skilled doesn't mean you got to be violent...just make people stop Fighting..

I have seen people who have “won” fights. Most of the time, they come out of the conflict in not much better shape than the one who “lost”. Who wins? Who loses? I’d rather be called a coward for not fighting than called a convict in jail or a patient in the emergency room.

Spot on. Unfortunately we live in a society that glorifies the military and violence. I'm not talking about movies or video games - story telling has always been around. But these days we are inundated with pro-military stuff - Camo clothes, camo jeeps, camo karate belts, Tactical (Tac) Sunglasses, Tactical Binoculars, Tactical hearing aids, gosh darn it even a Tac Pen and a Tac Razor. We have reached a point where marketers will put "Tac / Tactical" in front of anything because they know it will sell. Not a great comment on humanity.

You do not go too far. You just do enough to end it. It is always better to walk away. What is the use of winning a fight and then ending up in jail. Buster Douglas beat Tyson who had no chance of winning.
