I am not kidding, yesterday I was thinking the whole day: how in the world can I get in touch with Joe Robinson - one of the best guitar players I've seen in my life - and ask him something personal. I was really keen in knowing how a musician like yourself stays motivated, focused, interested,..in music after all this time you've been playing. And today you post this video. I'm flabbergasted! Many thanks for your advice and answering all of my questions at once!

Stay Hungry, Stay Foolish! Great video because I've been struggling for motivation. I've been confused about my direction and the path forward. I now realize I've become distracted and need to look within and reevaluate/eliminate my distractions.

I wasn't expected to be inspired by a non-guitar playing Joe Robinson video. Lots of practical advice mixed in with more abstract stuff. Love it. Appreciate the book references as well, my immediate task is to look at those and see which one I want to read first. Just a beginner guitarist but right at that moment where I feel like giving up. This video encouraged me to keep at it, and to stay hungry, stay foolish.

Amazing Joe! I really love the part of the craftsmanship, that we should be so inspired to get good at something and make your craft such a valuable thing to add to the world, that just that, fills you up with energy. I've been checking out your videos alot the past months and you are such a humble, kind and wise person, always looking to stay curious and willing to learn and above that, share everything you got on life, with us. Inspiring! Thank you Joe. Also alot of good book recommendations, will check em out. See you at your synergy channel!

Stay hungry - Stay foolish! Thank you Joe for your inspiring music and also helpful lessons such as this one! I took notes for my guitar playing journal! By the way, I'm enjoying your Fingerstyle series of lessons on Udemy. You're a wonderful teacher. In your course (and this video) you mentioned your routine of playing at 4 am in the morning. I'm a morning person too and since I joined your course, I've been practicing from 4:30 to 6 am. The world is peaceful and quiet at that time and it's a prefect time to focus! Thank you so much for this wonderful lesson. I hope that when you're touring again that we can see you play in person. Best wishes to you and yours. :)

Joe I know I keep fan boying, but you seem to have such timely serendipitous things for me, I was working on Misty, --you came out with the Carter video on that Gibson with the P-90's, Then you got that guitar, right after I was gifted an original stock '66 Gibson with chrome covered P-90's. I've known I need to practice better. - Bam, you post the Talent is BS vid. Today you mention cooking and listening to good speakers ( I probably have 20 sets of speakers. Thanks brother, your inspiration is immeasurable.
@Joe_Robinson3 жыл бұрын
Wow! We are in sync somehow - too cool about the 66’ Gibson with the P-90’s!!! They sound so great. I recorded some new videos with the 175 yesterday. Nothing like a good set of speakers to listen to a great recording, one of my favorite things about being home this past year. Cheers mate 🤘🏻

I dunno, I have been playing music for over 40 years and never really even considered motivation or inspiration at all. I just love music and that’s it. I feel like there is no other thing for me. Even if I had to quit playing because of injury or whatever I would still be in love with the music. I just don’t consider ‘progress’ at all. It will come with doing something every day. Of course my perspective is only my own. Ymmv. Fwiw.

Stay hungry, stay foolish! ;) I love how passionate you are and it is contagious! I have a great job, live a joyful life but for years now I have been trying to make some room for learning more music, creating music because I miss it. Lately, I am able to play my guitar again (after learning it for more than 10 years) and hone my skills by watching the inspiring ones like you, Tommy Emmanuel and carefully studying the insightful lessons of @Michael Palmisano. After watching this inspirational video I'll definitely read some of the books you mentioned. Do you suggest a specific order of the books (or which one is a must read according to you)? I am looking forward to the new Live from home stream even though usually it starts pretty late in Hungary. By the way, after these troubled times I would love to bring my children to your live concert in Hungary because it was a blast when you visited us about 10 years ago (together with Bernard Harris).
@Joe_Robinson3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Zoltan!!! I have such great memories of being in Hungary!! Bernard does too. I think the must read book for me is Peak. I think it’s the kind of book every musician would benefit from reading, I can wholeheartedly recommend it. So glad you’re making good use of all the great tools available now! Michael Palmisano’s videos are terrific. Great that he’s helping people learn so many good songs. All the best and hope to see you in Hungary again one of these days ✌🏻 Joe

Less chicken more cow....personally I'd ditch the chicken altogether. Check out Dr Shawn Baker, Dr Paul Saladino, prof Tim Noakes, Nina Ticholz and the low carb downunder channel. Can't remember which song it was but one of your Carter Vintage videos and it's one of the best guitar performances I have seen (and I've been around the block more than once or twice). You're a champ. Stay hungry Stay Foolish.
@Joe_Robinson3 жыл бұрын
I agree. I maybe should have clarified that in the video, I didn't want to get too deep in the diet thing. The 1/8th of Beef I regularly buy is the majority of my calories. Probably eat Chicken 4 or 5 days per month. Good for making broth etc. and good to change things up sometimes. Very familiar with that crew - I went zero carb for a while and felt really good. I also like Mark Hyman, Rhonda Patrick, Jason Fung and David Pearlmutter. Thanks on the Carter Vintage Video! I had to buy that guitar.. it was calling me!! Cheers and all the best, Joe

So cool 'Joe youtuber' , hehe One question .. when you have a lot of shows to do, how does your routine works? Do you have another routine when traveling to keep practicing? Or you just try to do what you can do, but not so organized ? ° GUITAR SYNERGY link sent me to "Something's wrong here. This is a 404 error ..." °° English is not my first language .. I saw the video about mean comments, you talking about grammar .. so, feel free to correct if there is something wrong (‾ʖ̫‾) Stay hungry, stay foolish ! !
@Joe_Robinson3 жыл бұрын
Cheers Dennis!! Thanks for letting me know about the link.. will check it out, but it's working for me. When on tour it is a different routine.. but I still keep a practice journal and I always stretch and warm up a little before I play. The priority when I'm on the road is always first, to travel safely, which means getting enough rest and leaving enough time for the drive or flight etc. Second is to put on a great show, which also means resting and being well rehearsed.. from there it's about trying to eat well and make the best use of my time. It's a whole different set of challenges. I miss it, but I've enjoyed having a home routine this past year.
