Hi I think the issue lies with the movement. One is a really natural movement, while the other is a more specific guitar related movement. So of course you will be faster at the natural one. It sounds vauge, but you really just need to practice the movement you have trouble with (not shit huh?). Practice it slow, with perfect technique. Log your practice, so you can see your progress. In the Right Hand Traning System, there are a bunch of exercises that also works the left hand in the pattern you show. So that is an option to get some guidance. I hope this was helpful. /Alex

I've noticed that it's very helpful to have two opposing loops ascending and descending. Looped separately and looped together. Thanks.

I agree I feel like you need to *deliberately* practice something several times with a concious effort so your learning it until it becomes an easy subconscious effort. Then subconscious playing allows you to do many repetitions which creates mastery of the skill or techniques. As for jamming or noodling I feel that's still important for just playing which always creativity to flow and you just need to kind of be aware and a concious observer of your playing for when you like something you freely created that way you can then either repeat it or record it so you can go back to it and work on it if its something you want to progress forward with.

another thing to mention is the automated practice is not the end of focused practice, its only a step to get to the next level. the cycle of focused practice to automated will repeat every time you try to increase speed.

I mostly watch your videos because of the pictures you are building. I am a master at teeth-brushing - took me millions of repetitions to gain mastery :D

Lol! So true! By I try to consider deliberate practice means "attentive, challenging practice" (as opposed to just staying in your comfort zone). These are just words anyways 😄

I really like your videos, thank you for that. But in this Video there was one sentence I disagree. You told that every single person who mastered for example a technique has done a repetition of small patterns over and over again. My guitar teacher did not do that, he told me he was just playing a lot of different songs for a long time... I don´t want to say that it´s not true what you explain in your videos, I really appreciate it and I was able to really improve my skills in short time by using your advise. Thanks again!! But maybe there a few people on this earth they don´t need to look your videos 🤣

( but i was practicing and making corrections with certain things..which was Bietch.lol) Then I sort of let it rest for a while...( i learn new songs to sing..just different stuff I have going musically).....Then I swept yesterday after a week of not sweeping.. it was like cutting through butter....My brain and fingers made corrections...while I was sleeping.lmao

Don't make practice a job or you will sound Incorporated instead of fluential when you practice. Because when you have the love for it everything becomes so much more easy. \m/
