Great advice, you never go wrong with mountain boots/shoes: strong, warm, sturdy grip on rough terrain and 100% keeps water outside. It all starts with good feet protection 😊

This is the fantasy. Canadian winter is great if your young athletic single and have a job that requires that one lift nothing heavier than a file folder. The reality is that if one is fifty and pulling a shopping buggy over streets covered in snow and ice ruts as well as looking after an elderly family member or children after getting up at six am to take two buses to a crap job your not going to feel like hitting the slopes at night. For those that do one needs to understand that the ski slopes are not located downtown. They an hours drive away or more. When I was in my twenties I would usually get back home around midnight then back up at six. Once age sets in as well as more adult responsibilities the winter becomes truly arduous. Also there is cold and there is cold. A cold snap in a major Canadian city can drop to minus 35 C without the windchill. I've gone out ice fishing in that weather when young and if you have ever experienced it you will know why Canadians are one of the most indoor populations once in their thirties. There's an old saying that a Canadian couldn't spot a moose in a police line up. Far easier to curl up and stream something on the computer and head to bed.

Does the grip on your boots matter? Or just use ice cleats?
@MakeThatChange
@MakeThatChange 10 ай бұрын
For most places in Canada, you won't really need cleats. Having boots with a good grip should be all you need, unless you live in the area with extreme icey conditions - then you will need spikes.

Hey, I have a question regarding beginning immigration to Canada. I'm in a relationship right now and my LDR girlfriend plans on moving to Canada, but she doesn't know how to apply for a permanent residency and a work visa to use in Canada until the 3 out of 5 years are fulfilled, and she can apply for citizenship and finally become a citizen. Can you help me understand the system and how she can apply? She is American, so are there any extra steps for her? I really want to understand how I can help her fully immigrate to Canada once the time comes that she comes over to stay for 3 years. I have several more questions to ask about this, so I'm wondering if I can contact you for advice. You seem like a very nice and enthusiastic person who has just recently obtained their citizenship.

Hi! You should start your research on Canada.ca website -> Immigration and citizenship tab. If you don't have time or patience to do research, we suggest you find a licensed immigration lawyer and book a session with themtotalk about options. But it's still nice to come to the conversion prepared, so we do suggest you visit Canada.ca website, it has all spep by step instructions depending on Immigration program you choose. We are not licenced Immigration lawyers or consultants and can not provide legal advice on your particular case. Good luck!

I have to say I used to whine about winter but have come to embrace it. Some of the most successful and happy places on the planet are Nordic countries. To the naysayers I say put on your big boy (snow) pants and get out there. And yes, I love me my Canada Goose jackets.
