The frustrating thing about all this is that, even in the context of YOUR OWN channel, this video (still well-made & articulate, but rushed and reactive) which has a more famous person on the thumbnail has 500k+ views compared to the ORIGINAL video that started it all (the one that took 3 weeks to make full of insightful commentary and great production) which has only 200k+ views. To note, HasanAbi (Hasan Piker) do not own that KZbin channel nor post any of his stream or VODs on KZbin because prominent Twitch content creators have strict established contractual agreement with Twitch thus are only allowed to stream and have their streaming contents only exclusively be made available on Twitch. The KZbin channel is operated by some third-party or individual who downloaded the stream off Twitch and uploaded it to KZbin which technically isn't allowed based off Twitch terms of service.

i hate looking up a video and seeing a wall of "[insert streamer name] reacts to [insert video name]" sorry people are taking advantage of you and your content in this way. its one thing being okay with a big streamer you enjoy putting eyes and commentating on your vids (which is still controversial in some ways, but it's completely up to the individual and i think they've gotten much better with encouraging their audience to go directly to the channels/videos and gas up the people they watch from), but its a completely other thing for a content leech reuploading it on the exact same platform you upload on to take advantage of BOTH parties. i wish there was some kind of real resolution to this, but youtube is too busy being mad at people saying swear words to do anything meaningful. not only that, but it seems like the only real way to get anything fixed is to yell at youtube on twitter or get a bigger creator to also yell at youtube on twitter lol

@D44RK_Iced_Yogs2 жыл бұрын
@@profess0r513 it might blow him up but the content being stolen doesn’t justify the exposure. I’m no expert but if the YT algorithm is used, it could’ve gotten him just as much. Thousands of watches and clicks through YT (especially multiple videos or series) would result in a boost just as much. This is a rare case in which it was good. The fault is not just on the VOD channel but on Hasan or reaction as a whole really. KZbinrs can put tens of hours, even hundreds of hours, into content. When someone can easily just react and not give them the views or clicks for videos (especially multiple) is just horrible. If the KZbinrs wanted to give exposure to these smaller creators they would give them a shoutout and or not watch a video or series in its entirety. It’s hard to do that though since the feeling the creators give is admirable and the care they do have for the community is commendable. It feels like you are watching something with a friend and it’s fun but damaging to smaller creators. Pinely is cool with it, like most are, but it shouldn’t be at all. At least it shouldn’t uploaded to YT since Pinely’s video is already on the site. DarkViperAU made a great video about react channels and how they steal content. You might have heard of him from the drama he had with Charlie and in response Matto doubled down with his series that was long in the making.

It is crazy and kind of admirable that Hasan allows (many) different channels to rip his stream segments to their own channels and monetize them. But that said, I definitely see why you'd consider those clip channels taking your video, AND using the same title and thumbnail as over the line. Hasan is a huge streamer on a different platform, so him doing reactions is justified in terms of publicity and not directly stepping on toes IMO. But these clip channels are harder to justify when using the video of a much smaller creator and not pointing to you, and the fact they're on the same platform. Hasan uploads some clips to KZbin himself, but NOT from streams of him reacting to small creators AFAIK.

Because it doesn't matter if smaller creators steal his thumbnail because he's making much more money by simply reacting to videos. There isn't a lot of times where one can feel proud for being a part of the VTuber community, but this might be such instance. VTubing community is all about clips, heck, most people don't really watch streamers themselves, they just watch edited and translated clips of their favorite VTubers. But those clips are always made by actual fans, and they usually have great relations with the talents themselves. When one time a clipper wanted to make a scummy business out of it, he was downvoted into oblivion, until he deleted his channels. I hope something like that can happen in this sphere too.

@greyscaleadaven2 жыл бұрын
Yeah rules surrounding the clipping in vtubing is way ahead of its time, which is probably why they're so successful and have international outreach. If clippers know what's okay and what's not, it creates a safer environment for them and the viewers as well knowing they're not watching stolen content. It can also incentivize translators to clip too if there's guidelines surrounding the ethical practices to follow when it comes to translation/clipping. The strict accountability held in the community towards other community members while taken a little too far for my liking at times, ultimately benefits the vtubing scene when someone steps out of line like with the translators or clippers trying to start memberships and patreons.

Always give credit to the original creator, give a link to their channel, ideally directly link the video you clipped, don‘t monetize the clip, and everything is good. Those are the basic rules to showing you actually respect the person you are clipping. Telepurte had this problem as well. The channels stealing his animations were what ultimately made him use his KZbin channel, which was good for me since I don‘t use Twitter. =D Over time the malicious channels dropped off. There were channels honestly uploading his animations, with credit, just so they could spread the word about him, and they always pointed this out in the comments. Those channels removed the videos as soon as Telepurte came here, since that‘s all they wanted. THAT is the definition of good faith use. ❤

There's a misconception that react channels fall under fair use when a lot of them actually don't. You can use clips, you can make reviews, you can make transformative content from other people's videos, but what is explicitly not covered is showing the full unedited video. Pausing is not editing. The channels who do this are going purely by the "KZbin code" that this is fine. But they will take down these videos on request, because they know their legal position is dubious.

It's funny how those reactors basically do a similar thing but just in a way people think is okay. Reactions take a fraction of the work it takes to create the video that gets reacted to. And even if the reactors are "fair" and link everything in the description or point towards the original creator.. well guess what no one gives a shit, at least a lot less people that would've seen the original video if it wasn't for a reaction. And it's so accepted to a point where creators that put hundreds of hours of work into videos think it's okay and cool if someone reacts to the full video just because they might get " a bit of a push" or because they don't want to seem too greedy. I mean if small creators react the impact isn't that big but the big reactors up top they only grow bigger and bigger because no one other than reactors could hold up with them in term of quality of content. Because the quality comes from smaller creators who don't even get something out of it. It's sad.
