Wow, what a gorgeous steampunk horse. I know you sped it up to save time, but I found it a bit frenetic. I would have really loved it a bit slower, with a voiceover by you (instead of music). In spite of this, your talent is so apparent. Gorgeous art.
@GailJonesPCC5 ай бұрын
Thank you so much for the compliment, and what a lovely way to offer feedback. So kind. My videos often take a week to do, so it is difficult to have all of the details in there without the speed, but I understand. I am considering voiceovers, but they do take so much longer to edit, unfortunately. There is a feature on YT that you can slow it down on the bottom right ( I believe) of the video. Thank you for watching!

Thank you, Mrs Miggins! Polymer clay is so versatile, so much that can be done with it. In fact, I'm working on some unusual projects with it and will soon be uploading a new video! Yes, I am from the UK 😁 Thankfully, the weather is cooling down now. My studio was getting so hot to film in! We aren't built for 30 degree heat here 🤣

I have seen this in the background of your videos that I have watched and wanted to ask if you had made it. I looked to see if you were in the clay group that I’m in and seen a post saying you were making this so I had to come and search, YAY I found it and showed it to my hubby. Said I want to make one, his response was “Geez you like start small huh” he said this because I’ve only been playing with clay this year so a newbie lol I love horses so this is a MUST for me to make. I may even make a smaller version to send to a relative in Australia who has horse as I know she would love it too. (Biggish fridge magnet I’m thinking) Thank you for pointing me in the direction of the picture. I love steampunk and I love horses ❤

Ahh, yeah, the steam punk horse. My favourite! I love to challenge myself, never done anything like this before & filmed while I worked it all out. I dont plan anything, I just make & film & see what happens & I love sharing it after so others can learn from it too! I found the original picture on pintrest, so I can't take any credit for the actual design, I linked the artist in the description if you want to see the original :)

This is on my list of things to do next. Absolutely love this! You did a great job interpreting the image and problem-solving! What color clay did you use? I couldn't tell if it was black or gray
@GailJonesPCC2 жыл бұрын
Hi Tracy & thank you for watching! It is actually like a dark teal colour in real life. Lots of blues, greens and small amount of black - I basically mixed up all of my scrap pieces from a tutorial that went wrong and will never be seen! Haha. I have got a clip of the clay as I began to roll it, which I can upload if that will help 😊
@carolh69592 жыл бұрын
Wow Gail! Stunning piece of artwork! 😁 I'm very new to polymer clay so apologies if this is such a novice question but how did you keep the clay from drying out? Is it a type of clay that stays flexible till it's baked? Really love this horse Gail, truly fabulous! 😁 Carol 🇮🇪
@GailJonesPCC2 жыл бұрын
Hi Carol - polymer clay does dry out, but over many years. Even very old or crumbly clay can be rescued. I used baby oil to condition clay, but first I chop it up in to small pieces, then add oil. Takes a while but it's worth it so you don't waste it. With the horse, I did it over a week & it doesn't dry out that quickly, takes a few months or a year to be really hard. There is clay that is flexible when baked, but I use Fimo, that is know for being harder and not flexible once baked 😁 I have a bookmark video where is flexible & I think it was Fimo effects that I used- it tends to be softer to use & flexible after baking 😀 I'm here for all questions, I love to teach! Thanks for watching!

did you have to bake it? Wonderful work!! can I do it with paper clay?
@GailJonesPCC3 ай бұрын
Yes, this is polymer clay. You do need to bake it. I think in this video I used FIMO (more well known used brand in the uk). It is best to use harder clay for accuracy, but can be time consuming! Ive not heard of paper clay. But air dry clay might work? 😁
@chandramoulib12563 ай бұрын
Magnificient work with great detail. what size is the finished piece an how did you mount it?
@GailJonesPCC3 ай бұрын
Hey Chandra, thank you so much! It is 24cm in length, I put a hole in the top and hung it up, so I guess it's not really mounted, but it has a backing of the original clay I laid down.

Aww thank you, Anita- it's 23cm /19cm, so neatly fits on an A4 sized printer paper.
