How to sterilize glass bottles
Step 1: Remove any plastic
Step 2: Bake glass vessel for 10 minutes at 180 Celcius or 356 Fahrenheit.
Step 3: Boil the lid/cork for 10 minutes
Step 4: Let the glass vessel cool down for 15-20 minutes
Step 5: Pour your concoction to the newly sterilized bottle

This depends on the type of glass, ideally, you would have checked the label at purchase, bottle often says things like "oven-safe". If it's tempered glass it most likely is oven-safe. But you should avoid rapid temperature changes, that is going to be the biggest risk and pouring for example cold water on a hot bottle will make it crack or explode, so DONT DO THAT 😂 I have personally never had a bottle crack or explode. Just be careful when handling them and like I said, don't expose the bottles to rapid temperature changes or shocks

Very old comment, i know. But as long as you heat it up slowly and evenly, there is really no major risk of breaking your bottles. Glass cracks due to thermal shock, which is when the temperature changes too quickly in one spot for the glass to expand evenly. Note: If your bottle is cracked or scratched, it may create a hotspot and a weakpoint that will significantly increase the risk.

I heard it safer to let it heat up and cool down with the oven, less chance of it breaking

Put the bottle into cold water, as close to fully submerged as possible, with something like a thin rag between it and the kettle bottom. Then heat that water to just below a boil, something like 90c°. Don't bring it all the way to a boil as then cavitation will occur which could cause cracking. Also make sure your water is well mixed so its temperature is even. With glass you want to avoid rapid changes in temperature. Or uneven temperature gradient.
