Off topic: Ronni rocking the National Wildfire Coordinating Group (NWCG) poster on the wall off her right shoulder. On topic: Me thinks Ronni is primarily addressing new hires. Therefore... My advice for ALL rookies, MALE or FEMALE, is check your ego, preconceived expectations and all misguided agenda at the door. (If you are a college/university student, it is likely you have been lied too about literally everything). Be a sponge for knowledge and experiences from other steady and experienced hands. Keep your ears and eyes wide open and your trap shut. Learn the life and live the life one step at a time. Women growing up with a solid relationship with a good and strong dad, always there for you (and/or good brothers) is a plus.

Can you do a video on walking down hill or down a steep trail when wearing whites fire boots. I was trying to figure out a technique while hiking but couldn’t find one.

What are your other hairstyle recommendations that are practical for the fire line?

A true firefighter will be willing to work with everyone regardless of experience level. Know that the day of the big fire will come and test yourself. All the rest is minor.

I have a question about wildland firefighting helmets. I know they are mostly similar to regular construction ones, and they are usually full brim what I see. What do the colors mean on them? Does it denote rank like in regular firefighting departments? Does everyone usually wear 1 color?
