Honestly, this is a very tough question. I think it might be a better idea to buy an investment property that's smaller but easier to rent out. Then with the monthly rent money actually live somewhere where you'll be closer to a network you want to be surrounded by. Having said that of course, you'd need to make quite a bit of an initial investment for the rental property. :)

Just bought my first property recently and my partner and I have major regrets because we went for what was less expensive but not in a place that is surrounded by people we like/ network with, if we could do it all again we would pay more to be in a place that we actually want to be at, community is a lot more important than you think. Plus the Silicon Valley area will only keep increasing so your investment will not go to waste, goodluck I love your videos 😊❤️

Everyone is having their ambitions. I've been having mine, too, but given the circumstances, I chose to have a cheaper location to afford the level of life I prefer. This way, I can afford all the necessities for children, support my relatives, and build a business that honestly?.. Could be built ANYWHERE, since all is online now. My IT company is 100% remote, and I'm working on another business idea now, that also doesn't require a huge offline networking circle. The only reason I would have come to Silicon Valley? Is to seek investments, if at some point I come to it. Other than that, everyone there is too busy building their businesses, and I kinda felt left out of the local life when I've been in SF. So I really didn't feel any difference in my productiviness. A subjective opinion here.

Hi Marina, I totally get your dilemma between having great networking and owning an asset. My personal experience is: buying assets is better long-term, not buying a house where you live but buying a house or several apartments which you rent out. I have several assets like that and did short-term rentals at first but wouldn't recommend it. Rent rather long-term, it's much less work. Deciding on the place to live is tough but I think I would go with a much cheaper place than SF and network online or punctually at events. The world changed with Covid and what was good before won't be good now. I have a similar dilemma right now about living in NYC (networking) or the south of France (building assets), and I still haven't decided but I do think financial independence is more important all things considered.

Marina, What about SF East Bay in terms of a house purchase? Rent here is pretty high, of course, not that high as in the heart of Silicon Valley, but it's growing exponentially, especially with more and more people moving out of SF these days. You can find a really nice spacious house in a good neighborhood with highly rated school for just around a million.

For the coffee, if drinking two coffees a day is unhealthy then I might be in trouble. haha I'm drinking usually 3 coffees a day during the week and 4 during weekends. What I think is the most unhealthy is sugar. I did my own Google search since I'm a big coffee drinker and most articles I've seen set the limit between healthy/unhealthy at 5-6 cups a day.

Hi Marina! I'm commenting here for the first time from Mexico! I like your videos where you show places in California! I love California as well but it's just so expensive! I did an 18-month internship in Finance a few years back in the Napa Valley Area and it was a great experience. I haven't been to the Palo Alto area, Malibu and some of the places you've shown us on your videos. I know the San Diego area and I think it's beautiful as well! I think I could definitely live there! Getting to know Personal Finance and Investing will help you better to put things into perspective. It certainly has done it for me. You said you would like to reach 2.5 million in 5 years from now...Have you guys considered places like Austin, Texas for example? It seems it is a hot spot for tech and it is way cheaper than California (and less taxes) and that way you could save and invest more without compromising the networking part...I know it doesn't have the great weather of California and some other things. Guys like Tim Ferris have move there after living in the Bay Area. I am currently thinking about the possibility of moving myself so it's a thing I can relate to and there is a lot to consider like cost of living, quality of living, etc. You could make an entire video on this subject! Like perhaps similar places in the U.S. to California without the high cost of living? Keep up the great work and positive vibe!

First dear Marina, you´re so pretty, so don´t worry about your new vlogging camera or any camera. About the place, you love to live, chose one where you find the networking but also you feel good. Because I will be your home for quite a while. On the other hand, coffee is one of the healthiest beverages of the World in moderation (5 cups a day). Actually is healthier than tea. I´m very lazy because I took some medication is not what I should take. I have adult ADHD and need something like Adderall o Strattera but my doctor sent me antidepressants that I´m quitting to get more active. Also being unemployed contribute to that. ADHD is being around all my life, but it also causes in my adult life to keep my English active and running, and why not be your neighbor in Malibu.

I imagine that KZbin in the future will allow users to search for video content with a higher degree of granularity in the future. So a user could do a search and the meta-data from the chapters will be directly linked to that portion of the video.
