I have a deviated septum and was a mouth breather most of my life until another cpap user recommended placing the tongue up on the roof of your mouth when going to sleep using the nasal pillows. He said it took a little practice but eventually it trained him to no longer breathe through his mouth. It was worth a try since I’m extremely claustrophobic. It didn’t even take me a week and I have used nasal pillows since. The humidity and hose warmth open up my nasal passages enabling me to breathe with no problem so I haven’t had to go through surgery as Dr Noah stated! Spot on!

Your recommendation to change the setting from nose pillow to full mask was excellent. Every night I had at least one leak, often many more. With the simple setting change to full mask I have had no leaks recorded for the past 3 nights.

Ok, I'm using kinesiology tape and it works really well! The problem is trying to get it off in the morning without ripping my lips off!
@Sleeplayground3 ай бұрын
Hello, have you looked into using mouth tape? that might be easier to get off in the mornings

Would an under the nose nasal cradle mask, like the Phillips Dreamwear mask, be good like the nasal pillow mask the doctor was talking about?

Can you or your viewers tell where to get a replacement foam ring for a Resmed 10?

I'd love to use the nasal pillow I bought but the dang Solo doesn't come with adequate headgear to not slip off my head. I didn't expect that problem but it's turned me back to my F-20. Suggestions?

Should f40 be set to full face instead of pillows setting they advise to set it to?

I would like to know this also. No matter how tight my mask is, I still have leaks that wake me up constantly.

I had better results when I made that change.

It's never going to be a perfect seal. As long as it is not leaking going into your eye and severely impacting the sleep score move on with life. The fact that you are breathing properly through the night is what matters.

Mine is always leaking excessively. I've tried different different masks, a cervical collar, etc. CPAP has been nearly useless for me.

What set pressure do I use if the Dr. has it at 5-15 auto ramp? I would like to try the VCom

Determine your average pressure and start there, he said.

I’m new to CPAP. I’m a big guy with a big beard. Using the F40. Only way to ensure no leaks is to tighten the mask so much that my gums and teeth hurt in the morning. :(
@Sleeplayground3 ай бұрын
Hello, you should not be tightening the mask so much that it is hurting you. You may need to change the style of mask you have to one that is more beard friendly, like the Dreamwear full face mask

When the Resmed Myair daily scores shows "Adjust Mask", does this mean that the number of Events Per Hour may not be legitimate due to mask leakage?
@Sleeplayground2 ай бұрын
Correct, since there was leakage happening, the numbers may not be 100% accurate.

I'm puzzled why you say "full-face mask" doesn't leak. I've tried four different one and every one leaks (please don't tell me my mouth is open, that's not it)

I'm confused, are you describing how a conventional CPAP works or how an auto-CPAP or APAP works to treat apnea? I currently use a nasal mask with Airsense 10, max pressure is set at 9.6, and have been getting "unhappy face mask" leak symbol for some time. Have the heated tube set to off. Have just completed Night Owl apnea test, in process of getting a new CPAP or APAP machine after consultation with a sleep center and a new prescription. Sleep center seems to favor APAP machines. I have been using CPAP for over 30 years but your plethora of technical information, with charming aussie accent, is hard for me to follow.

Would placing it on full face effect while using a nasal mask or nasal pillows affect exhalation? I would worry about all the exhalation and making sure all the co2 was expelled before from the vent before inhaling again.
@Sleeplayground3 ай бұрын
Hello, generally speaking, regardless of what mask or mask type is being used they have exhalation ports to help remove the exhaled breath-co2 so it should not affect exhalation
