Just ordered my resmed airsense 11. I’ve been watching for a few months and purchased the wellvue 02 ring based on your recommendation and I must say, you may well have saved my life. I found my o2 was dropping down to mid 70s and heart rate low 30s. I then ordered an at home sleep study and found I have severe apnea. I was a life long smoker but quit 8 years ago. Ended up with COPD. Went to Hawaii by and up the mountain where I got cerebral hypoxia. Taken down via ambulance. Got Covid as soon as I got home. Non vaccinated. Have had issues with breathing since. But since finding your channel, I’ve taken back control of my life. As much as I can, at least. So thank you, for all your doing. Your funny, calm, intelligent delivery of information if easily and readily understandable. I’m so grateful for the hope I feel now. I’m excited to see what will come

@@CPAPReviewswhy couldn’t I tolerate a CPAP because even when just putting it on before I could get to sleep at a pressure of 4, I felt like I was on a ventilator. I never could seem to breathe naturally. I had a hard time falling asleep and when I did it was only for 2 hours. I don’t think the pressure ever went over 8 for those two hours before I woke up. It was during Covid so very little Dr to patient time. After 30 days and only using it a couple hours a night I had to get some sleep and returned while still in the trial. Any ideas I am getting ready after 4 years to try a different Dr and hopefully find something I can tolerate. I think it was set 4-16. Other then that don’t know much about it. It was a ResMed 10.

This is a very informative video, I did a 2 month experiment with using Philips CPAP machine after finding out from a sleep test level 1. I'm having 30ish apnea episodes per hour in the night, but unfortunately the experience i had wasn't great. I kept waking up with pressure building in the night and within 1-2 weeks developed a subconscious habit of removing the mask in my sleep. I almost decided to not use CPAP anymore but thanks to my doctor I've reconsidered it and now I plan on buying my first CPAP machine. Still a bit confused between Resmed 10 & 11 to be honest, heard a worrying things about issues with 11. But once again huge thanks to give information like this which shows companies aren't perfects and we need to adjust devices to our needs. Will be watching quite few of your videos as i need to still learn alot being new into this CPAP and Apnea learning curve. Thank again

Thank you for your channel and this Video. I was diagnosed with Obstructive Sleep Apnea when I was 19 years old and have been using cpap machines regularly sense then. I am now 36. I have been on the Airsense 10 since that was released. I recently got a new prescription as my machine is 10 years old and needs to be replaced. When I looked at the prescription the doctor just put that the machine needs a minimum pressure of 4 and a max of 20.... no specified levels or anything. I also was never told about getting an SD card to put in the machine to better track and finetune the pressure levels. according to the prescription my AHI is 21.3. I plan on getting an SD card to see how making adjustments improves the therapy.

Thank you for the scientific analysis of CPAP pressure. Do you think that different masks play a role in the calculation of pressure? I very often use different masks and I constantly adjust the pressure. For N30i I set the pressure 8-15 but for F&P solo to 6-10. So sometimes the overall statistics pressure is skewed.

One thing i forgot to mention is if your pressure min is high (ie above 10cm) and you find it difficult falling off to sleep at that pressure, you can set a ramp that starts at a lower pressure and gradually builds up to the pressure min over a set time frame (ie 20-30 min etc). Hey buddy, the response was 'standard' in this example. You won't see sharp pressure jumps with the 'soft' response however it's less 'sensitive' and will provide less apnea control. Hey you should do a week with soft and then a week with standard and generate a detailed report! Cheers

@CPAPReviews2 ай бұрын
Hey buddy, these principals are for Auto CPAP devices no ASV devices. I would encourage people with ASV and Bilevel devices to consult with healthcare professionals when changing settings. if the airway is collapsing (OSA events) you'd increase your EPAP min/max settings gradually higher but remember there needs to be adequate pressure support so the ASV algorithm can adapt to changing ventilation needs.

What can I fine tune in this case? I wish some mfr would make a mouth __cover__ that restricts mouth air flow but will allow fast removal or will blow off from a violent couth.

Trying to find whats gonna make me comfortable and allow me to fall asleep. What should I do and how do I share info from my dream station? thanks
@CPAPReviews2 ай бұрын
Hey bro, importing your SD card data is pretty simple. This is how to import ResMed data and the same principles apply (just choose the dreamstation as your device in step 1). - kzbin.info/www/bejne/hKjSlZaBrr6jgLs . I don't know if you'll find anything in the charts that will help you fall asleep mate. I'd experiment with pressure relief (A-flex) for breathing comfort and perhaps experiment with your starting pressure. (some people experience a suffocation feeling at lower starting pressures). The mask is also important so if you're not having much luck with your current mask it might be worth trying a few other models. Good luck buddy! Perseverance is the key so stick with it but if you haven't fallen asleep in an hour, take the mask off and get some rest (even sleep apnea sleep is better than no sleep at all) Cheers

That’s right! He also changed his EPR to 3. While EPR (Expiratory Pressure Relief) is often called a 'comfort setting' to make exhaling easier, it can actually have a significant impact on your therapy results-sometimes in a big way. Try spending a week with EPR turned off, then switching it on for the following week. Afterwards, use SleepHQ to generate a detailed report and compare the two weeks. You’ll likely notice some big differences in your data (possibly good, possibly bad! It's an enigma). Cheers!

@@CPAPReviews thanks. I was curious what you saw in the data that made you consider turning on EPR?
@CPAPReviews2 ай бұрын
Hey mate, it was li. 1. Sometimes turning on EPR can improve the flow limitation trace (not really sure why this is though but i have a few theories) and 2. It can sometimes improve mask leak because of the exhalation pressure drop inside the mask. Check out that vid i did on EPR - kzbin.info/www/bejne/fZK7cmOQfrydZ7ssi=2bLdF6A1kqqHPf4h

@@CPAPReviews thanks. I have seen videos saying the Resmed machine takes too long to get back to IPAP number after the EPR drop. You are correct that it may not be for everyone.
@CPAPReviews2 ай бұрын
this is true which is why it normally reduces apnea treatment when you switch it on however because EPAP stays low for the whole expiratory phase when it eventually does shoot back up during inhalation the air moves very fast and i think this might be what improves the flow limitation trace but it's only a theory i have.
