Tretinoin took care of pretty much most of my skin issues. A good cleanser once a day (at night) followed by a good hydrating serum and then a repairing moisturiser and then the tretinoin (Nightly, 3 times a week). Broad-spectrum high SPF/UVA Sunscreen (preferably a European formula) during the day. You're sorted. Sunscreen is pretty much all i use during the day time since sunscreens in general are quite moisturizing so no need for a moisturizer.

I don't understand the difference between the unwanted 'shine' and the 'dewy glow/radiance' that many people aim to get from the (too) many products that promote that 'look' as a 'good' thing. They both look the same to me - something I want to avoid at all costs. I don't know why people want to do that to themselves - it doesn't look 'youthful,' it looks moist.

@raraavis7782
@raraavis7782 2 жыл бұрын
@@gobbledygoook Are you aware, that they have different tints? Just making sure, because I'm fairly lightskinned and the lightest one works well for me. They also have an untinted version, so you could probably mix that with the light one, to get an even lighter shade. I know the struggle, of finding a mineral sunscreen, that's not shiny or heavy feeling 😏
@gobbledygoook
@gobbledygoook 2 жыл бұрын
@@raraavis7782 yes, I knew. The lightest shade is perfect for me, but my daughter's skin is really light so for her it doesn't work. The untinted version is different because it has perfume in it and since my daughter has a sensitive skin that is rosacea and acne prone ( plus diagnosed sun allergy) I would prefer a sunscreen without fragrance. Also the texture of the untinted one is a bit different, a lot harder to wash off. No way to get a 12 year old to do a double cleanse in the night.. I'm happy that she at least applies the sunscreen everyday in the morning. Thanks for the tip though!
@raraavis7782

Dr. Dray, thank you for this continuous stream of videos full of bonifide medical information. I have been using Tizo mineral SPF 40 which has 20% zinc oxide. It has a lot of silicone ingredients (I ran to get the box to see for myself after you mentioned silicone in this video). It goes on really smoothly and leaves no cast after I rub it in really well. I do use a moisturizer under it. I haven't seen you reviewed it before. Would you consider trying it out and review it in your videos? Thank you in advance!!

Thanks for this video, Dr Dray! As someone with acne/rosacea-prone skin that is so oily that people ask me if I'm wearing Vaseline on my face during video calls, I really appreciate this video! Question: do mattefying products make the skin oilier in the long run? I use a mattefying mineral tinted sunscreen and for the first two hours my skin looks great--like an actual normal human being. But by Hour 4 my oily skin has broken through the matte layer and floats on top. I know that many people with shiny skin actually have skin that is so dry it ramps up oil production to compensate, so I wonder if matte products are making my skin oilier? Do you have any thoughts about this?

I am 57 years old and, up until about 4 years ago when menopause hit, my skin was extremely oily. Like, within an hour of applying makeup, I was already developing a shine. And I lived in a very humid climate so, truly, I would look shiny and even sweaty sometimes. Not a cute look 😔 I tried every product out there, including some of the ones she mentions, but nothing every really helped much. The only exception was blotting papers. I carried them with me (or used single ply toilet paper) for years. Blotting, plus a pressed powder compact just became my daily routine. Now that I’m post menopause, my skin has significantly changed- much drier and prone to dehydration. I have to slather on moisturizer now, even in humid summer months. I wish, now, I had appreciated the oily skin more! I can honestly say I MISS it!

Perfect timing! Dr Dray, Are there a the difference between Differin to Neutrogena Retinol? I have been following your Differin regimen for my sun spots. I use Vitamin C booster then Differin Restore night, then a dap of Differin gel on both cheeks for more penetration. Lastly, I use Nuetrogena Rapid Repair just on the forehead where wrinkles are more noticeable. Can those ingredients be combined addition to Missha Red Algea toner? TY!

Hi ! I had a question regarding saving up on shipping fees :} Which products would you say are ok to buy in batches, vs which should be used as soon as bought to avoid a decreased potency ? The main issue of buying in bulk of course being products sitting on the shelf for a couple of months before being used. I assume it wouldn't be a great idea with Vitamin C for example ? What about SPFs and Retinol/al ? Cheers :) !

Hi Dr Dray. I have a question… have you ever reviewed ,tried, or had any thoughts on “It cosmetics CC cream”? It has an spf of 50 . I do know most people probably won’t apply enough for the spf to be fully effective due to its high pigmentation so will need to probably still use another spf. My question though is about the ingredients. Would you say the ingredients are good or bad, and in which ways. I’d really like the the details as it’s such a popular product in the makeup world. Thank you for this video. You’re the best for sharing your knowledge with us. Thank you for that. In the limited time I’ve been watching you I’ve already picked up some of the products you’ve suggested…. Paulas choice Liquid exfoliant. Good molecules face wash. . 😊

That Differin / Cetaphil Oil Absorbing Moisturiser SPF 30 stings my eyes like nothing else 💀 In Australia it's called 'Cetaphil Pro Acne Prone Oil Free Facial Moisturising Lotion SPF 25'. If a product doesn't have enough UVA protection it gets its SPF downgraded in Australia, so it's probably UVAPF 8 or 9, equivalent to PA+++.

Paula's Choice isn't completely cruelty-free anymore, sadly. They were bought by Unilever, which does test on animals, though they are keeping PC as a "cruelty-free" subsidiary. So I'm especially glad for the Peach Slices recommendation :) Always glad to find new brands who do it better for cheaper.

I like the Cetaphil clay mask. It works pretty well and isn't too drying. I'll have to try the Mugwort mask. I also find that blotting papers help a lot .

@@bobotee7072They are usually called Oil Absorbing Sheets. They instantly remove excess oil from the face. They work great. Clean and Clear make some but the store brand ones work just as well and are less expensive. You can find them at any drugstore like Walgreens, CVS, Target and Walmart. I bet Amazon has them too.

I am *so* the opposite of shiny. I am extremely dry in the face. I put layer upon layer on my skin and seal off with the Nivea blue tin, which has always worked for me. Started using this age 3 when it was recommended to mom by our family internist (underneath it some sweet almond oil that she got at the pharmacy, doctor's orders) and it has worked so well until age 44, when I discovered hyaluronic acid; that is still the *only* thing I use. No permanent wrinkles yet, well I say permanent because yes I have a moveable face LOL. I am 49 this year. Tretinoin in Belgium still is only used for acne. I don't know whether we are that far along yet that it is massively used for anti-aging. Don't think so, somehow.

Hmm ok well my comment with the La Roche posay link wont show here so I'll shorten this, Anyhoo would love to know your thoughts on their Anthelios Daily Anti-Aging Primer with SPF 50 sunscreen!! It's really a hidden gem! not talked about enough & after straying I always seem to come back to it, So its def a Holy grail, the best I have found for oily skin & it does all the things it claims to do in smoothing out the skin etc, It's been out for years & I haven't seen it mentioned by you & I think you would really love it as well thanks!

Can you suggest any gel for dandruff flakes at certain point only ? Will tacrolimus 0.1% solution help or should I use any salicylic acid ointment. 🤔
