how to stop believing your thoughts and how to stop the mind's chatter. Here's a Jnana yoga practice to help you do so - Allowing what it to be as it is, knowing yourself as you are. This video will help you free yourself of the tyranny of thought. It might be the video that offers you a major breakthrough but what I mention must be practiced consistently. Here's how to stop believing your thoughts.

About to say something crazy - You Ready??
If you watch today’s video in full and implement what I teach, I can confidently say that:
1: Thoughts will NEVER have the same pull over you ever again.
2: Your understanding of Self Inquiry will become 10x deeper.
Bold claim? Perhaps..
But that is how confident I am in today’s video in its ability to wake you up and that’s how excited I am to share it with you, hence I’m hyping it up much more than usual. Haha :)
Not going to give away anything more about it. Watch it above.
Best wishes,
Sunny Sharma

So, to clarify- the water bottle is the thought. We typically focus on it and get pulled into following it. Self-enquiry is seeing the bottle (thought) but not focusing on IT. But, instead we ask where is this thought coming from within, just being the observer of the thought, not following it? I am in deep pain from the grief of losing my fiancee. I really want to be able to do this self-enquiry but my brain feels fried most of the time. Now I'm asking who is grieving, where is the grief coming from, who is noticing the grief? What confuses me is if it is my soul observing, why am I in such pain? My soul knows life goes on and it's only his physical presence I'm grieving for in my human form. My soul knows we've walked many lifetimes together & will again. But still I grieve with such anguish....

@@jadatoady , I am sorry for your loss; your loss is real. As is your grief and sadness. It is your body reacting to the stress. Acknowledge it, accept it. Allow time for your mind and emotions to stabilize. Take your time. All the experiences you shared are within you, incorporated into the new you. Find moments of Gratitude and thankfulness that they were here at all. May you stay healthy and safe.

@@jadatoady Much love to you during this difficult time! To your question regarding self inquiry, not exactly. What you are inquiring into is what is it that is aware of the thought? What knows it? When launching such an inquiry, don't go looking with your thoughts, look with your attention to what the question points you to. If this is sort of confusing right now, let it be and relax. For the pain and grief I would actually ask you to practice this: kzbin.info/aero/PLmYcmWw9kgC_s9ZxWhcfIdwX2dA_7d41t

It looks easy but when practising its difficult. But it's necessary to practice it, because that's when we will slowly realise what our true self is. Our true self which is separete from our mind and body; The awareness.

The ego/mind tries to survive based on attaching a meaning to what is seen and can use the human senses to feed this. The mind wants to understand and build a story based on past judgement. This is the conditioning that created seperation consciousness. That is also why words can also attach a meaning based on ones prior perception. Acceptance of what is for what it is, as felt with an inner knowing without judgement and allowance maintains presence and oneness. The need not to understand but to know all just is, unity consciousness, aka observing all from a space of love and knowing that all is beloved. "The highest form of intelligence is to observe without judgement" Jiddu Krishnamurti Namaste.

This is, hands down, one of my favourite Sunny videos because it made me laugh, and WOW did it ever explain the concept of 'I am not my thoughts.' I have been practicing being aware of my thoughts and creating the space. You are right, in the beginning it's very difficult to always be the watcher. The thoughts come with such emotion, you feel them in your body, so it's hard to not realize they are not you. Over time it becomes easier and you feel the peace that you essentially are. Thank you for being so real and a little silly- You nailed it with the water bottle visual!

Slowly😊 because my mind is always requiring me attention, like this doubt which maybe is a silly one:if I'm the awareness, if I'm That, why thoughts contents are always according to each person lives experiences (ex. trauma), I mean isn't that an evidence that that experience was in some way "real" to that person? Thank you Sunny for bringing light to these issues, for your help and wisdom🙏

Through careful with nquiry, the snake is revealed to actually be the rope, The I thought is traced to its source in the heart, the Self

Hey Sunny, thanks so much for this! A question: is this process sustainable? Surely not identifying with, and choosing to give everyday thoughts that arise, 'distance' is likely to be met with equal resistance from our minds? To the point where there is a cascade of thoughts: witnessing, then consequent resisting thoughts, then more witnessing... Do you work like this during the day, or has this process become 'automatic' over time? Thank you for your teachings!

I would advise not to make assumptions or future projections. Don't entertain questions like these. They ARE an aspect of the mental resistance you are referring to in your comment. Simply practice to the best of your ability the pointers which resonate with you and see for yourself! :)
