Thanks so much for this video. One of mum's radiators has been banging for years, despite an engineer coming out to fix it! I had a look at the radiator and the wrong thermostat valve had indeed been fitted ! All sorted now though thanks to you. :-)

Lots of sensible advice. My problem is that my valves were fine until recently I had a new Worcester Bosch 30iery fitted. It is still a system boiler and pressurized. No I have three rads bang at a certain time after the heating has been on, perhaps 2 minutes. I fitted these valves , some years ago, I am thinking that the are worn out. Before had a floor mounted 80K Ideal boiler 44 ears old. This worked fine and never had any banging.

I have the same banging noise problem, however I have a double pipe valve and the flows are reversed. I cannot easily find a double pipe valve that runs both ways, mine has an arrow and the plumber installed it the wrong way, no easy way to revers the pipes since they come strait out of the wall. Will opening the by-pass valve on that double pipe valve help with this issue?

Hi mate how are you doing? Love your channel and am always trying to get people to watch your video on Heat pumps, so well explained. O those valves are bidirectional but never seem to work properly when fitted on the return always seem to make a noise but only on some systems, my one pipe system is fine, but my friends was making a noise on shut off until I put the valve on the flow. All the best and once again a great channel you have there.

A new boiler was fitted a 5 years ago, there are 6 radiators in the house several of which were noisy. It sounded like water rushing through too quickly. I turned down the lockshield valves and the radiators did go quieter but had cold spots. I then opened them all up full, they are now nice and hot and all silent bar one, any suggestions ha? Cheers Warren

@@dereton33 yes im in the new house a month today , reading up on how the pressurised hot water heating system works and the megaflow tank upstairs. I seen last week the pressure gauge was quite low at about one quarter bar. Now I had tried 3 rads with a quick bleed but i presume it was already low moving in. Anyway figured out how to repressure and let it build to 2 notches above 1 bar. Now 4 or 5 days later the pressure gauge has dropped just over 3 notches on the gauge. Sitting below 1 bar now. Have I an issue?

@dereton333 жыл бұрын
Try balancing them, but they may be the old TVRS that are on the wrong way round, IE return and not the flow. Turn your heating on from cold put your hands on the pipes to see which heats up first that pipe will be the flow.

Hi Al, slightly unrelated question but wondering if you had any advice to offer. What is the likelihood of having two stopcock under the kitchen sink? We have located one and we have turned it off but water is still running from the tap. Could there be another one further dow (the rest of the mais water pipe in the kitchen is hidden behind a wooden panel) that actually turns the water off and the other one is maybe for something like the washing machine? Cheers!!

I physically have to turn it either way to stop the noise. The valves are all on the return pipes but all have the multi-directional flow arrows. Any ideas?? Ps love your content, has helped me loads over the years. Cheers pal.

Hi Alan, thanks for the video. I have a similar issue. I checked the flow/return, but the valves/thermostats are on the flow side. My situation is odd, as this problem only started after I had my boiler replaced. I went from a system boiler to a combi boiler. My radiators and pipe work are a fair age, the majority have micro bore pipe but the large living room radiator has 15mm pipe. The radiator with 15mm pipe doesn’t have the issue and coincidentally was fitted with a new valve, as the previous was leaking. Come to think of it, before the boiler was switched, I changed out all the thermostats, but never changed the valves. I’m wondering now, would changing all the other valves be a good place to start?
